Roughly a week from today, the filming of Star Trek: Discovery will take place, a series which so far has mixed responses in the build up. Some people are still not sold on the ship design, others feel there might be forced diversity and an agenda being pushed, but all are willing to give it a chance when it airs later this year. On the 24th of January, filming will begin and when it does, more news will probably start coming out, as well as leaks, the later you might want to avoid.

The original news for this was broken by TrekMovie.com, who found the series hiding under the codename "Green Harvest", showing that filming is set to end in September. With a release date currently set for May 2017, on a number of platforms, you can find, and possibly add to our list of broadcasters here.

But, as previously stated, now we might start to get more and more news as we get closer to the filming of the series. Time to get excited for the first Star Trek series since the end of Enterprise in 2005. If this proves to be a success, then CBS may well fund more series in the future, possibly even expanding the story past Voyager. Only time will tell.

This, to me, seems a little late to start filming. I hope that it doesn't get delayed. I, however, am not in any way versed on how television is made, so this could be entirely normal.

Awesome article Three.

After reading the article I'm starting to feel a little excited, I never really paid much attention to Discovery in the past but knowing that they're extremely close to starting the shooting of the show I am getting giddy. I hope this series does go well and is liked by all Star Trek fans! There's going to be a few people that won't like it, there always is but I'm hoping the majority will. (including myself!)

Irrespective of whether the series is good or bad I'm going to support it, rave about it and generally give it some Bolstering in hopes it means MORE Canon Star Trek being pushed - we owe it to the franchise to make it a success!!!

Well, for Agents Of SHIELD, they film episodes roughly 6 weeks before they air sometimes. Or, at least thats how it was during season 1 and season 2. The episodes in season 3 and season 4 have far more editing, so the development time might be higher now.

However, your fears are comfirmed anyway.

I don't mind waiting until September, I just want them to get it right. It has been far too long since we had a Star Trek series on the television.
