This week's long-awaited and overdue release of Star Trek Online's "Agents of Yesterday" carried heavy concerns from console gamers in and out of the UFP Community. I'm going to bring you a quick review of some comments and concerns I've gotten in just the first few days of it's release. And, my personal review of the Good, Bad and Ugly.

First Mission: Echoes of Light

With the initial release came the Temporal Agent's 1st Mission, "Echoes of Light". The general reaction for this episode was mixed. Soccerman1995, a good friend of mine and an avid Star Trek Online player, had this to say:
"Playing the first mission was a lot less exciting than I had hoped for... And, if I had to suggest anything to a Developer, make it as exciting as the PC's current Episodes."

Agents of Yesterday is the third expansion for STO.
While MartinOmega, a fleet-mate of cfuentespadilla stated it was "Important to realise the amount of time taken to design this" and went further as to state, "PC will always receive the fastest and most reliable answers, updates and games. It's just a matter of waiting and begging for the consoles to receive the same thing. The question shouldn't be WHEN are they going to give it to us, it's ARE they going to give it to us."

So, I know what us PC gamers may think, "It's not physically possible." "They can't put that much content into the Xbox version, it'd break the damn thing!". I have reached out to the contact for Perfect World Entertainment. Unfortunately, There is no comment, as of yet on the further development for Star Trek Online on either Xbox or PS4.

My personal view is that, while the rewards for completing the mission were great. The mission itself, while fun to play, was too fast paced and was too easy for those who were experienced. The enemy to ally ratio was too big on the player's behalf. And overall it was too loosely developed and it felt like it was designed to be more of a Introduction Episode for those with Level One Accounts.

Armada Introduction:
The Armada Introduction is very exciting for the Fleets out there that have an interest in still running their fleet but interacting with others. However, as a Fleet Commander myself, I see some issues:

For instance, the Xbox One STO Communities like being involved in the ranking structure of the armadas. I don't know much regarding the PC version's Armada Ranking System or how it works. But, the armadas here still have some glitches. Armada Holdings aren't up to par with PC and PS4 needs some technical support.

I've heard from a good friend in DOS Space Command, my Fleet for XB1 and PS4, that this is true. The PS4 Fleet Commander, JacobLee4195, is barely able to stay on the Armada Menu without his PS4 freezing. This has caused some membership trouble with them and has barred them from further interaction with other fleets. There has been no comment from the Developers that were contacted on that issue unfortunately.

In all, the Agents of Yesterday update to the consoles varies in pros and cons, good or bad depending on the gamer you speak to. Even if you agree with all of these comments and concerns, I strongly encourage you try these yourself. You are the only judge, juror and executioner of your gaming experiences.

I thank you for reading my first article with FNS, I ask for suggestions and comments, PM me, if necessary.

Until Next Time,
Christopher Fuentes-Padilla

I've heard things along those lines from STO PC Forums outside of UFP. Not every quote is from the UFP Membership. Being that not many of the membership I know were available for comment from SFO XB1

I agree with Sammygm, it's not the matter of content. The thing with STO when they decided to bring it to console was re-working the old content and for the console platform, remember that STO started off as a PC game. Everything and anything in the game needs to be converted for console.

For the initial console launch, they pretty much converted the main aspects of the game (maybe abit more than the original PC launch), and gave that away. Everything else literally has to be re-worked so it supports the PS4 and Xbox One. And yes, it is going to take time.

Congrats on your first article!

Can't say I've ever thought those things as a PC gamer either, to be honest, if anyone did say those things, they are a bit silly. A console has a hard drive to store data, so as long as it has the capacity, you can put all the data you want on it. The launch, people were unsure if it was going to work on console, which is understandable, it's an MMO with a lot of abilities, hard to translate over, but they did it and apparently, they did it well. Any content patch after that is just content, there are far bigger games on console, if I recall correctly.

I enjoy it so far, but forgive my stupidity here but is most of the expansions contents in creating another character in the TOS era rather than your current character?

Essentially yes. You start off in the TOS era and do missions until Lt. Commander, then you start the normal STO storyline, but there are loads of extra rewards etc that you can get as a Temporal Agent. Started a character as a Temporal Agent yesterday as there is so much extra to get, and is far quicker to level up due to the extras, plus a new story line which I think can only be accessed as a Temporal Agent.

The only issue I have with the console version is the character customisation, it freezes temporarily and then is sluggish throughout the process, which is just frustrating. I am still hoping they will have an option for console UI and controller support for PC (yes, I am aware you can use a controller, but the key binds are terrible and are not fluid).

What's the hot leads thing on Nukara Prime with the Tholiams? What event chain is this from?
