Rumors have been circling that the upcoming series 'Star Trek Discovery' will contain a Klingon "king". The rumors started following a tweet from CBS All Access writer and producer Aaron Harberts, who is working on the new Star Trek series. In this tweet he said:

Chris Obi (@obidon1) has been cast to play "T'Kuvma", a Klingon leader seeking to unite the Klingon houses according to startrek.com.

Herbert's tweet sent many Trek fans into a Twitter frenzy, where fans speculated as to why he made such a statement. Harberts later clarified to say he was "not being literal". The concept of Klingon monarchy is somewhat canon, considering that the Klingon Empire was once ruled by dynastic emperors. In the context of Star Trek: Discovery many fans have commented that Harberts tweet was simply a "turn of phrase". It will however be interesting to see how Klingons are portrayed in the latest iteration of Star Trek and see if they follow the lead of their predecessors, or if they reinvent Klingons in some fashion.

With Star Trek: Discovery having no set release date, it may be some time before we finally find out.

What do you think? Did Aaron Harberts say something he didn't mean? Or was it meant as a compliment to Chris Obi? Let us know in the comments.
