Not only does God play dice, but... he sometimes throws them where they cannot be seen. - Stephen Hawking

Unfortunately on the 14th of March 2018 one of the worlds greatest minds and idols Stephen Hawking passed away from ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease).

Stephen Hawking was considered the greatest mind to ever live since Albert Einstein. He was an English theoretical physicist, cosmologist, author, and Director of Research at the Centre for Theoretical Cosmology within the University of Cambridge. His scientific works included a collaboration with Roger Penrose on gravitational singularity theorems in the framework of general relativity and the theoretical prediction that black holes emit radiation, often called Hawking radiation. Hawking was the first to set out a theory of cosmology explained by a union of the general theory of relativity and quantum mechanics. He was a vigorous supporter of the many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics.

He often held public lectures and wrote many books about himself and the sciences he discovered. Usually targeted for kids like George and the Blue Moon.

Stephen's most recent adventure was to tackle the Black Hole paradox. Something he unfortunately never got to complete.
He was never one to shy away from a challenge and constantly tried to do the impossible. One of the last things he wanted to do before he died was to go to space. Richard Branson offered a free flight into space with Virgin Galactic which Stephen accepted almost immediately.

He was an idol to science enthusiasts like myself and many others in the UFP. I ask that anyone who would like to pay respects or talk about how he changed your life in some way comment below the post.

For me, he was the first person who introduced me to the wonders of the universe as a kid. I wouldn't be the Trekkie I am today without him.
