Hello there. Im Johnny, a 34 year old man From Norway. Im almost new to STO as I played a little the last days of the open beta. Just bought the game a week ago and Im having a blast. Im LT. commander atm 2 atm and Im learning more each day. I got a tier 2 escort and science vessel since I didnt know you got one for 1 EC 
I got the tip of selling stuff, so I sold a few things, bought a tier 2 ship, crafted the best stuff I could and went into space 
Not sure if I crafted the right stuff, since I dont know half the stuff in the game yet, but Ill get there

Hi Union. The game is truly wonderful and quite an enjoyable experience.
What career path are you? Tactical? Science? Engineer?
For the early levels, I wouldn't worry too much about gear level. White/Green is no big deal until you hit Rear and Vice Admiral (Mk X and Mk XI), as honestly, you will level out of those gear items faster than you think.
Crafting your gear as you level is fine, as it allows you to skill up that skill. But I would avoid using some of the rarer (i.e. highly demanded/needed) particles until you are ready to craft your Admiral level gear (Mk X/XI).
