The leadership of the Starfleet Academy department has changed hands a couple of times recently, with the departure of Bondgadget76 to the introduction of Grim Shepard and then later his unfortunate obligation to have to leave the position. With that in mind, a renewed search was conducted by Admiral LynxMukka to find a suitable new Dean to take on the education aspect of the fleet.
Starfleet Academy is a section of the {UFP} which focuses on providing a learning experience to new and old members alike. Through the use of online software, courses exist in a variety of areas such as Star Trek: Online or indeed leadership skills.
As LynxMukka said earlier in a short interview "The department is vital to the continuation of member training and quality to the fleet as a whole, it's no easy task to keep track of and endeavour to keep learning in a gaming environment as fun as ever." So it is no surprise therefore that Lieutenant Commander Tallaris has been appointed as the new Commanding Officer of the department and is hereby promoted to the rank of Captain. Congratulations!
Integration
Using software such as Moodle is a great tool for a variety of organisations in real life and the gaming world. However, the {UFP} only uses a small part of what potentially the software can be stretched to and so as part of a new initiative, in the future the fleet will be looking at creating it's own small automated system allowing for almost full integration into the Website & Forums that we currently have. More on this aspect will be posted in due time.

As a former Executive Officer you understand what it is like to hold a command position in one of our departments but now you are a CO but that doesn't mean you have to do everything by yourself nor does it mean you don't have support available to you, one of the hardest things to do when in a leadership role is to use the resources at your disposal to maximum effect, master that and your job will be a lot easier.
Although I think with command positions we all make our own luck I shall wish you good luck anyway and hope that you do not require it.
