Some of the older members may recall the time in which the Internal Affairs department took care of numerous aspects including but not limiting to, Forum Moderation, General Administration and indeed, managing Personnel matters. Over the course of time, with the release of Star Trek: Online, the fleet's administrative areas expanded in order to deal with a greater amount of affairs, a greater amount of members and provide further fleet positions for those wishing to provide something back to the community.

Over time, we've learnt how to do things more efficiently and as the fleet's changed, our management styles have changed too. With the {UFP} preparing for the release of Star Trek: Infinite Space later this year amongst other games on the watchlist, we're once again looking for ways to cut back on areas which don't work and share the load elsewhere.

As such, the Starfleet Personnel department is being re-merged into the Internal Affairs department with immediate effect. While this decision did not come lightly, it's an action that some may reminisce from a few years ago and for others, it will hopefully be a welcome change.

This merger will not however have an effect on the various services and procedures the fleet commits to however. Leave of Absences, Advertised Fleet Positions, Roll Call and Signatures have all been moved to a new forum located in Starfleet Logistics called Member Resources. It's visible on the Forum Index page.

I would just like to take the opportunity to thank everyone that has contributed to the Starfleet Personnel department over the years. The department was a great addition to the {UFP} and helped to ensure a great level of service to members and really helped improve how we go about recruiting for officer positions within the fleet.
