Lifetime membership

I was thinking of buying the lifetime membership for STO. Is it worth it? Will the new game Infinite space kill STO? Will the price go down? maybe!!! just looking for all of your expertise.

It's only worth it if you really love STO and you can see yourself playing it for 15-18 months.

I purchased a lifetime and have no regrets. In the long run, it is the much better deal. Especially considering that I have paid a total of over $1200 (US) in sub fees to Blizzard. $250 is nothing compared to that.

But as Grace said, if you truly love STO and can see yourself playing it for another two years, it is worth it. If you typically find yourself bored with a game quickly, then a lifetime isn't worth it at all.

One thing I like about the lifetime sub, is I feel better about coming and going in relation to play times. If I was monthly, I'd feel I'd be losing my $0.30-$0.50 (US) a day if I didn't play a little bit. As that is what it comes down to really... how much you play or plan to play.

If you are worried about STO going to Free-2-Play, I wouldn't. As with Champions, those who have subs/lifetimes get everything they are used to and bonus Cryptic C-store points every month. So again, it kind of pays for itself over time.

Ask yourself three questions, and you will have your answer:
1. Will I play the game more than 15 months?
2. Will I commit to playing this game on a regular basis regardless of what other games come out?
3. Am I going to be satisfied with a lifetime membership (and whatever perks lifers are offered) if this game goes F2P?

If you answered "Yes" to all three questions I would say you definitely should consider a lifetime membership..... and I can say this because I am a lifer myself.

Not to toss a wrench in the works, but.. I play STO and NOT a lifetime subscriber, If I had the money I might, but I also play Blizzard games, and paid way too much over the years, a lifetime subscription is worth it if you plan to play more then a year. As most lifetime players end up paying money on c-store stuff later anyways.. STO still gets money from them

I'm not a lifetimer but tbh I don't really think the monthly subscription price is a big deal. I used to pay for 6 swg accounts at one point so paying for just 1 is really quite nice. If I were to buy a life time, I'd prefer to do it for tor as well hehe.

I've been really considering it. I do like to play STO a lot, and with he release of season 4, I think there is a lot to play with. Besides, my parents get annoyed whenever a monthly bill comes up

While this statement is true, it has no bearing on the value of a lifetime membership. Sure, I'm betting most lifers buy stuff from the C-store, but so do most monthly subscribers. This being the case, it's pretty much a common factor among all players and can't be considered when calculating a lifetime membership's worth. The only variation in the equation might be the fact lifetime members have $15 a month more to spend on C-store items if we wish because we pay no monthly dues.

Personally, I have spent approximately $70 (US) in the C-store since the game went live. I'm a frugal shopper and take advantage of sales.

Another thing to consider... your "lifetime" sub starts the day you get it. Meaning after a year of subs, you get the Lifetime, you have to wait another year or so to "break even".

When I looked at STO, I tried the trial account... loved it. As I had been playing Champions, I knew I would rather 'invest' in a lifetime sub than a monthly.

And I am very glad I did.

I have spent plenty in the c store heck I bought the stupid dreadnaught, what a waste of 25 bucks that was. I am totally leaning towards getting the lifetime sub. By the way does anyone want a dreadnaught it's gonna go for bottom dollar?
