Book Recommendations

I'm in need of a few new books for an upcoming holiday.

Looking for any ST books where Jadzia is the main character in the novel (preferably with Worf) and I'm also looking for some general Sci Fi novels. Just as a guide, I loved Asimov's robot series and detective novels and Dune of course but not read any sci fi in years.

This isn't a ST book, but I recommend "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" - I read it recently and it's fantastic. Short too!

Another one I'd recommend is The Wasp Factory. I read it on the plane back from Canada once, and before that did it during a brief spell on an English A-Level.

Oh I do like Philip K ♥♥♥♥. I've read a few of his including Ubik. Been a while though since I read any of his novels.

Can't think of many Jadzia focused Star Trek books but you might want to try The Lives of Dax

As for Star Trek books I think everyone should read the A Time To... TNG series set between Insurrection and Nemesis. The Destiny trilogy is another must.

If you like the darker elements of Star Trek then the Millenmium DS9 trilogy is a very good read as is the Invasion series.

If you like shorter stories then Tales of the Dominion War is a good compilation of stories from various different Star Trek authors.

For non Trek books, and I must admit I don't read them anymore (I stick to comics/graphic novels since my brain needs pictures), I recommend anything by Frederick Pohl. I did not read much of his HeeChee stuff, but a couple others were good.

Also I hope you've read H2G2 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hit..._to_the_Galaxy) - if not, I highly recommend the first three books: H2G2, Restaurant, and Life... Those three are a nice storyarc in and of themselves. The other books get weird, even for Douglas Adams.

And finally, the Mars trilogy (which has other books set in that era as well) by Kim Stanley Robinson is great. I only got half-way through the first one, Red Mars, but again that's because it didn't have pictures. If they graphic novelized those books, I'd be all over them.

And who can forget Ender's Game - one of the greatest SciFi books ever written, imho.

I have read the mars trilogy and thoroughly enjoyed it. I read it I think the summer or two before I went to Uni so that was a while ago now but I always remember because I was listening a lot to Ash and the 1977 album which featured "Girl from Mars" hehe. May have to re-buy those!

I generally re-read my books an average of 10-20 times hehe.

I read too many books & am too slow a reader to have the time to do that haha.

I agree with an earlier post the Tales from the Dominion War looks good (I've only read one). I also read a TNG book called something like "Chain of Command" which I quite enjoyed. I'll always recommend the "Invasion" series - four books from the four series before Enterprise in a continuing story arc.

If you're thinking of none Trek books, try any of the stuff by Peter F Hamilton. All available on kindle I think, love mine. Most are quite weighty. Nights Dawn trilogy is good, but quite dark in places. Or the Greg Mandel series is ambit lighter.

Kevin j Andersons saga of seven suns is good holiday reading too.

Titan series is always great, if you like Riker.

ANd after that read Typhon Pact, comes after Titan.

I can't agree with this enough, Invasion is a fantastic story (although I have to say I think the DS9 one was the weakest part). But for my all time favourite Star Trek novel (next to the Shatner 'Kirk Lives!' Saga...sooo much fun) I'd have to go for the TNG book, Rogue Saucer by John Vornholt.
