I've been looking around, and not having much luck in getting or even understanding how to go about modifying or creating a new windows shell in the form of the Lcars.

I've been using Lcars x32, though my lack of programming knowledge has bitten me in the rear and the community for that program isn't exactly lively. My question is, is there anyone who has an understanding of Visual basic and window shell replacement that would be able to modify/improve an exisiting Shell replacement (Lcars x32, it's not a replacement yet because it's not really finished) to be more friendly with x64 systems and easier to modify on a UI baises as in add/remove buttons on some areas based on the programs/setup of the computer it's installed on.

I know the person has done a WONDERFUL job with it so far, but support has .. faltered, and I honestly would rather this stay in the hands of Star trek fans, and not have to go begging, paying MS devs to help finish this wonderful project. (which I thought about doing because It'd be nice to have official support in a windows shell creation)

I just would love to see this finished. I'd rather see a Window shell replacement before a linux based OS in the Lcars theme. I have far to many programs that don't run really well in linux flavors.

I'd like to see it too! But my experience over the years has dulled my enthusiasm significantly. Everything i've tried so far was either not working at all or even forced me to reinstall.

I'd be happy with a linux distro with an lcars interface as well by the way. I'm using both atm. anyway (laptop with Linux (penguyOs) a server with linux (OpenSuse) and a windows 7 64 ultimate game computer).

I'm affraid though that so far the developing, programming and coding skills of the Trekkies interested in something like this has been inadequate and the interest in something like this with people who do have the skills has been equally inadequate.

That's why i've been so inmensly impressed with this website! The lcars interface not only looks the part but it even works the way you'd expect and want it to.

So the only people i can think of with the qualifications to undertake the mommoth task of creating an Lcars windows shell on any OS are the guys who coded the vbulletin software into this site.
