If we're talking Galactic Empire, that usually means the Emperor is around in some fashion or another, in which case, there is a lot of Force trickery that would help their side (hence my vote). Now if Luke and kin saw a Federation starship show up, they might shake hands and put up a pretty good fight combined!

The Empire would win for the simple fact that they do not play fair, nor have no problem wiping out entire species or blowing up entire planets to achieve their victory.
The Federation would have a hard time with those horrific cruelty inflicted by the Galactic Empire.

I think While the Galactic Empire has the Might of a whole Galaxy at their disposal, The Federation have Superior technology In my opinion. In the words of Captain Picard: "Lasers cant even penetrate our navigational shields don't they know that?" That being said, Lord Vader and the Emperor could just force choke everyone. The Death Star could be a problem, however a small Peregrine fighter could take it out easy as shown in the Star Wars Movies

i voted federation but now thinking about it.... The Empire spanned an entire Galaxy, thousands and thousands of planets... The Federation is what... 150... 200 planets max?? It seems the resource factor would decide in the Empire's favour....

Yes..If we voted Universe vs Universe..Star Wars peeps would get SLAUGHTERED ! The one thing they have that could be some trouble would be the ..lol..magic people called the SITH and JEDI..we just overwelm them to death with borg till they get tired. ohhhh the Force..THE BORG are not impressed...Numbers is the key to a VICTORY !

Cloaking devices, transphasic torpedos, ablative hull armor, and the ablity to outrun star destroyers plus, the fact that the federation has transporter tech would end up giving them the edge. It would be a bloody war though no doubt with many losses, i also think that when they saw the threat of the empire, the klingons and romulans would thrown in their support and that would really do the empire in.
(And as a brief edit: i forgot to say stormtroopers can't hit the broadside of a barn plus they lost to furry little ewoks with sticks and stones lol)

Star Fleet lives by ethics and morals, Empire does not. Plus Most Victory and Imperial class star destroyers would destroy federation ships though they could not move as fast. Also each Star Destroyer has hundreds of small tie fighters and SF ships have a few shuttle crafts. Though the SF ships would have more advanced technology I think. But you know they are two different universes and I really do not know who would win.
