As part of SFC's commitment to transparency about how we manage the funds donated by members, and to show how these funds are used, SFC has implemented a set of financial rules and regulations detailing how these funds are to be used and tracked.
As part of this initiative, VFA Thomas Mullaly has been charged with producing a financial report detailing all income and expenses for the fleet in a quarterly report. This report will be disseminated to the entire fleet through the FNN.

Basically, yes.
Whatever is in the red will be absorbed by members of SFC out of their pockets. Since we pay 590 British Pounds a year for the dedicated server, we're hoping that throughout the whole year we will be able to fundraise a substantial portion of that cost for next year, and whatever is left will again be absorbed by SFC.

We think this level of transparency is important when you consider that much of our finances will be sought from generous donors. You guys, who are spending hard earned money to help this community continue to flourish, deserve to know how that money is being spent... I know I would certainly like to know.
The 590 fee is for the year's hosting. We pay that upfront for the year in order to save on money. I think it's about the equivalent of two months free hosting if I'm not mistaken, doing it that way.
Of course on occasion there will be other potential fees to pay. In our most recent instance it has revolved around the vBulletin forum, which we are keen to keep up with as we all share the common belief that these forums are a very important hub for keeping the community alive and together.

We are really keen to make sure that we are getting nothing but the best for everyone in the {UFP} and to get the best you have to pay for the best. The initial purchase of vBulletin, the purchase of vBulletin 4.0 Publishing Suite and the upgrade of our server hosting have meant that our expenditure has been higher this year than it has ever been before. It is really nice to see those members that can afford to do so donating to help us cover these costs so that we can ensure we are delivering on our aim to provide the best for everyone here.
A really big thank you to those that have donated, it isn't something people have to do or that we expect them to do and it is really appreciated when people are able to donate, every single donation helps so thank you very much.
