Sorry about that, got a little bit carried away when i saw a fellow Bredanaar (someone from the city of Breda in the Netherlands) in this thread. I love my city and am a proud supporter of our local soccerclub NAC.

So that's why i instantly reverted to brainless shouting with enthousiasm...

But i'm from Breda in the Netherlands.

It's the same here in Asia where Trek fans are few and far between.

To me that is a good thing. I've enough of tolerating abuse from my peers just because of certain cultural and appearance differences.

It's shows like Star Trek that allow me to think that mantra "adversity breeds innovation" and triumph over those who want me literally, dead, including my very own parents.

To those who want me put down, Star Trek is considered 'way too complicated', guess what, if I master Western style communication and critical thinking skills, I can go whereever I want :3

Wauw, i can't even begin to imagine what that must be like. I know i'm not the perfect example of political correctness and through experience i've got prejudiced towards some groups of people here in our country but to want someone dead just becuase of appearance or culture is unimaginable to me. The prejudice i have are not based on culture or appearance but through experience with those people. I judge people on how they treat me or, and this is probably very wrong of me i know, when i meet someone for the first time i go with my experiences with the group i think they're in (in my mind)

It's hard for me to explain without coming acros as a total duichebag though... An example:

When i meet someone who looks arabic for the first time i try to avoid religious topic or remarks (especially jokes) until i'm certain they're not muslim.

That's the extent of my prejudice.

But like i said, i cannot imagine wanting someone dead becuase of culture or appearances, let alone being wanted dead by your parents. It gives me cause to look into Singapore more closely and do some more googling and stuff. I've allways perceived Singapore as a very modern, very western and very diverse and tolerant city. One of those shining examples of a working multicultural society. How i got that view i don't really know but surely i'm mistaking.

Hopefully we in the UFP can be of help in coping with it or at least provide an escape of sorts.
