Problem Title Signature Uniform Question
Description of the Problem I read that it should be a first contact style of uniform (such as the fleet unifrom) however my day to day uniform is the Seven of Nine style of uniform as my character is a liberated Borg.
So my question is a simple one, is the liberated Borg uniform acceptable (with fleet rank) or is there no leway on this?

Sorry to say, no. The Borg Unifom in question is not acceptable. We as fleet have a fleet uniform for many reasons. One is for photo ops and its nice to have everyone in a uniform to show we as a fleet are uniformed.
If that makes sense. The silver uniform and others are ok to wear. The fleet Uniform is its own and should be worn on special fleet days if at all possible..

In essence you are saying that the Fleet uniform is like a dress uniform.
Having a military background that does make sense. {UFP} does have to portray a common identity and we are ambassadors of said fleet when we are in-game. Thus the requirement of a uniform for fleet events.
This does not stop other uniforms or clothing styles from being worn in actual gameplay due to tactical, covert ops or other reasons :3

I know that it can't be used for photo ops and special events and I fully understand that, just aksing if it can be used for the signature on this forum signature but if the same rules apply then fine.

3o7 - Actually you ask a good question, because we rarely/never see 7o9 in a Starfleet uniform, do we? Or is she not considered a formal member of the crew?
Also, if I were to feature my Klingon character in the {UFP} signature, then what kind of 'uniform' is she expected to wear in {UFP} regulations? Erm, which doesn't apply because Klingon? xD

Seven of Nine once wore the Teal uniform in the Voyager episode Relativity: http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Rela..._%28episode%29
But in the main timeline, she has not warn a Starfleet uniform to my knowladge and according to memory beta, she has never been a serving officer, only a civilian within Starfleet.

Hmmm, that does serve as a precedent for Liberated Borg officers who were not given Starfleet ranks.
However for your case I do feel that you (as yourself) are given a {UFP} rank and thus are serving in Starfleet as a (as in the current case) NCO and do obey the organisation's rank structure.
This would give Mugato (or SFC) the right to insist that because you have a rank based on that; you are part of the uniformed chain of command.
Now for RP however, your preference to mimic 7o9 and not wear the SF uniform is perfectly acceptable (for functionality reasons, as the EMH says) because she will be regarded as an LB, not SF personnel.
@ Mugato - as I am not a commissioned officer, do feel free to interject and offer a better RL or canon representation on why the uniform is necessary.

I believe the rule for uniforms is that the UFP fleet uniform should be worn for dress occasions (photo ops, fleet events, etc) as described above. Otherwise, wear as you please.
As for the forums, I do not think there are any hardline rules for your "thumbnail" (the picture on the left), although most of us choose to use something Trek-related, like the pre-selectable starships, ranks, a department logo, or our char image (in fleet uniform).
The one thing that is supposed to be in the UFP fleet uniform alongside dress occasions would be the signature photo. We prefer all our signatures look the same (if they use the UFP-generated sig image, which is a great benefit of being in UFP), and thus require that uniform.
Hope this helps,
Caymen

Yes, I agree with Caymen, that's how I understood the rules anyway. Personally I like the fleet uniform but I don't wear it all the time either.
It would be a real shame if our resident lib-borg couldn't look so ah..fashionable!

For both Klingon and Federation characters, we require the character to be wearing the fleet uniform of that faction for signature pictures. This keeps everything uniform on our signatures.
As for in-game, members are free to wear whatever uniform they please. The only time we'll request the fleet uniform is during a fleet picture, or during large gatherings such as fleet day, and even then, on Fleet Days most people do it voluntarily anyway because it's real cool to see 30+ people wearing the same uniform. The other 99% of the time you can wear whatever you wish.

Sorry, I now see you mentioned SIGNATURE as your question. The answer is,you still have to wear the fleet uniform as per the guildlines of the siganture police.
