{UFP} Radio Project - Who's on board?

Greetings:

Less than a month ago, one of our members submitted a proposal to look in to starting a UFP-sponsored radio project. We in FNN had been discussing such a project since late last year, and were pleased to see a separate movement toward supporting that goal.

As XO of FNN, and given my strong background in broadcasting, I will be heading up this project. But, I need help from those who were interested in doing so. What I need now is to see who's willing to commit their time to such a project over the next six to eight months in helping to deploy the station and maintain it afterward. Here's what we will need:

- On-air Talent (DJs, Show Hosts, etc): 6-8 required.

The on-air Talent will be the voice you hear over the radio. They will host the shows, or jockey the "discs" on-air, present information and the like. Additionally, they will be required to record promotional materials for their own programming. Shows can be done live or live to tape, depending on the circumstances of each host. Expect to post at least the number of hours of your show + 2 hours for recording per week.

- Music processors: 3-4 required.

This is key. As we put together a music library, we will need people to process the files to whatever format and bitrate we need, catalog the music and submit that updated catalog to the station manager (me). This will consume a lot of time per week (~8 hours), depending on how many volunteer to do this.

- Producers: 2-4 required.

Producers are those individuals who are great at cutting and splicing together audio to form polished clips like Carts, Ramps, and other imaging or commercial-valued audio for the station. Additionally, this may be producing shows from raw audio like interviews or pre-recorded music shows.

Let me be clear on this; If you're not willing to make a solid commitment to this project, don't do it. Because this will have financial investment, it's absolutely critical to the fleet that we have a dedicated team of at least 12-15 people to see this through and stick with it. This will most likely be a weekly commit of at least eight hours of your time until launch, and then that might decrease depending on the number of hosts we can utilize within our schedule.

If we can't get that team together, we cannot move forward. So, please... if you reply with a commitment, make sure you can see it through.

I have some experience with Audio Editing and a lot of free time I would be able to help

Edit: I could also do Host/Dj as well

I have a lot free time and and as for experience i dj'd as teen also was night club manager , also depends what slot every one wants to do as we have members from all over the globe into all sorts of music ranging from sharpkiller Queen hits to some members who just don't sleep and listen to dance music my guess is you split the music/talk slots up to where the activity comes from sorry if i confused people

I love the idea of this project! I wont be able to invest any time in the near future however (On vacation until the 28th, have the hire new staffers when I get home and then training... looking at 2 months of scheduling that I cannot guarantee from one day to the next, and thats assuming the first bunch I hire work out).

But after that (Which I know isn't really helpful, but I am trying) I would love to help out on this! DJ Kains would set the virtual acoustic world on fire!

For those of you who have the talent, I highly recommend supporting this project, as it really does help bring everything together and is a great piece for the fleet!

I know this is an older thread, but I would be interested in working on this project. I have experience with audio, video, and photo editing. As well as journalism experience.

I posted this on the proposal thread but I have managed a community radio station and currently run IT for one, happy to help out, although I don't see my role fitting any of the requested ones. Perhaps a committee needs to be formed to explore new ideas and implement the best etc.?

I'm going to ask those interested to please join FNN as a writer, for now. Once we get the ball rolling, it will be those on staff who will take charge. Contributing to FNN now will help us convince SFHQ that FNN is equipped to handle bigger projects such as this.

I would suggest you apply again. Whenever there is a change in management or something new on the horizon, departments are always looking for new people.
