I will be in Reading from April 1 to April 12. Anyone have any good suggestions for what to do while there? Keep in mind, I'm there to work primarily, but I imagine I'll have lots of downtime to contend with.

It really depends what you are into. Reading is a nice london borough with lots of History both Medieval and English Civil War. Its nice if you like trains, I also believe it has a good Soccer team. (if you a fan of that rather pathetic sport)
I don't think its too much effort taking a train to Waterloo or Victoria which means you would be open to more activities.
So it all depends on how much time you have, what you like, and how long you are staying for.

Reading?
Oh dear :p
Getting a train the other way up to Bristol (about 1 hr - 1 hr 30m) beautiful weather at the moment, good nightlife, nice harbourside, a few links to Star Trek (Patrick Stewart trained to be an actor here) and American history if you're into that. Of course you are closer to London and there are regular links to Oxford too, another great place in the sunshine.
