Personally I was hopeing for a Klingon storyline, although I think their plan is to use the character that was used in one of the best original star trek movies. Then hope it pleases the star trek fans, although from what I have seen from the feedback people are mad that they are treading on such a classic storyline.

Someone also suggested that maybe future spock gave starfleet a list of future problems they will encounter (Khan being one of them) and they will act on that info since the timeline was already changed so much. I don't know how true this will be but it did say that the storyline will be in no way connected to the episode so I'm more interested in how they even encounter Khan without having to go the route of finding the ship he is in by mistake.

The Klingon's are back this time. Rumours are that they are the ones who first stumble onto Kahn. Either way, the crew has made it clear that this isn't going to be a rehash of Space Seed.

Benedict Cumberbatch is a very good actor and I am sure he will deliver a good performance I think I will wait until I actually see the film before passing judgement.

I know a lot of people are worried that it will just be a rehash of Space Seed or the Wrath of Khan with far too many people apparently slating it because it is just a rehash of either of both of these which is an impressive conclusion to reach based on so little evidence but just by using one established character doesn't mean they can't do new things with him I think they showed that pretty well with both Kirk and Spock in the last movie.

I get the feeling that it will be Khan in name only - most likely he will have a completely different story behind him and a different character. At any rate, Cumberbatch can pull him off, absolutely loved him in Sherlock.

The timeline split of back when the Kelvin encounter Nero, so everything before that still took place as in the "Prime" universe. I know that'll bug some people and they'll slate the entire film based on it.

However, that's something I can easily forget if they make a movie as high as the standards of the last one. It shall be interesting to see where they go with it.

The Khan's story up until the Botany Bay disappearing should be the same but not much detail of this backstory was ever given in much detail any way. Due to the fact the timeline split when Kirk was born that gives years and years for someone else to encounter the Botany Bay. Nero escaping from the Klingons for example had massive implications for both Federation and Klingon fleet movements as just one example. Changing the details of Khan's being first encountered in that time period really isn't an issue.

When you think of how different just one country would be if any number of relatively small things changed and then consider the impact of the Kelvin being destroyed, the Federation and Klingons encountering the Narada, Vulcan being destroyed, Spock Prime polluting the timeline (although an alternate one) etc etc would have then Khan first being encountered under different circumstances is more than plausible. Hopefully the fans will consider that.

Couldn't agree more tbh. I wouldn't mind a relaunch if it was good but Khan? Really? Star Trek II was alright but theres a reason i havent watched it in years and i really don't want another Khan movie plot.

If there going to go that route we better get a KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!

It breaks my heart that the franchise has fallen under corporate control. It was bad enough when Rick Berman added the position of Chief Hottie to every ship, but under Jar Jar Abrams and his insect overlords at Paramount Trek has become everything Roddenberry fought against. I can't believe that Star Trek is now completely controlled by the same people that told Gene Roddenberry to "Get rid of the guy with the ears."
