Good job with the composite. I don't see much aliasing or color mismatch on the pasted ship! Try getting your phasers to be procedural in layers so they aren't just orange lines without substance. Something to practice is taking the phasers you have now, shrinking the brush slightly rising the opacity and making it a hotter orange and repeating the process with the outer colors varying oranges with brighter colors and more opacity and the inner colors being yellow to white. With white being full opacity.

just a thought.

P.S: I Like the overall gradient effect on the Phasers.

I wouldn't call that crap. You said it was your first play around with photoshop. By comparison to my first photoshop mashup, that one is far better. You see I had BC screen shot ships with that horrible white glow layer that everyone used to use to avoid dealing with any left overs from the screen shot they pasted from. I also had about 20 lens flares which I used as both stars and quantum torpedo. The scene would make J.J.A look like a conservative saint.

I look forward to your future work. Just don't ever call what you make crap. Heaps of people can't even do as much as you have there. And the coolest explosion is the one furthest left, in my opinion it has the most coloring that is loyal to the scene and the lack of transparency leaves it to the imagination of the damage caused as opposed to transparent ones which display uneffected structures.
