I'm looking to build myself a new gamig computer in about 6 months - 1 year. I know this is quite a long time in computer terms but I wanted to have a look and see what was available now. Basically, my challenge to you is to design the best build you can for around £1500 (I am willing to potentially spend more if it is justified well) but the less it costs the better. I'll use this for playing games like STO, battlefield 3 and things like that. Here are my requirements:
2 or 3 monitors
An SSD for boot
At least 1TB of hard drive space
I'd like a Zalman Z11 Plus case (Amazon)
I'll probably be asking again when I get closer to purchase to see if anyone comes up with something better than mine. If I use your build, I'll put a sticker somewhere on the case saying that you designed it.
Good Luck!

I know you want a build but lets be perfectly honest now. For 1500 I could point out a build but come time that your buying that computer wont be worth a half.
Computer tech moves far to quickly to do build 6-12 months away and still be a feasible buy.
If your itching then find yourself s RESPECTED computer hardware forum and start reading and asking questions. Plenty of ppl doing builds now to get a idea, plus it will keep you in the "loop" of upcoming tech and what you might be interested in.
My limit is 2 months on picking builds , if it is within 2 months you probably know what is coming out and what your going to buy, price will wiggle abit but 90% of the time it will be down.
I'll pimp my site again and link you to our Build section : http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/new-builds/
Couple of things to ask yourself though are:
Where will I be buying this hardware from?
What will the main use of this computer be?
What Res will you be looking for monitor wise.
Will I be reusing anything from my current setup?

I'm just interested in seeing what I could get now really, I'll look at doing a proper build at the time.
I want it for gaming like I said, games like BF3, Mass Effect, things like that. I'll reuse keyboard mouse headset and speakers from my current build. I'm looking to run 2 or 3 monitors at 1080p if possible. I don't really mind where I buy from, as long as they deliver to the UK.

Tell you what everyone, I'll send you my one to get you started:
Zalman Z11 Plus Midi Tower Case - £58.50
Asus P9X79 PRO Motherboard - £212.72
Intel Core i7 3820 Quad Core CPU (Overclocked to 4.75GHz) - £223.99
16GB (4x4GB) Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz RAM - £59.99
OCZ Agility 3 120GB SSD - £64.99
Western Digital Caviar Green 2TB 6GBPS HDD - £74.99
Pioneer BD-RW Blu-Ray Burner - £59.98
Palit Nvidia GeForce GTX 670 Graphics Card - £280.98
Corsair Enthusiast Series TX750 PSU - £83.67
Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit - £145.98
TOTAL PRICE - £1265.79
Of course, I would need to add an aftermarket CPU Cooler but I just threw this build together in about 5 mins. With £234.21 left from my initial budget, I might add a second SSD or upgrade my current one. Either that or I try and get some more money and run a second GTX 670 in SLI, but I'm not sure that it's worth it.
What do you think considering that's even without shopping around to get the best price?
