Today (Thursday) marks the release of Minecraft update 1.4.2 - and to coincide with this update we will be creating a survival server for this coming weekend on our famed Titan Server. This server will open up on Saturday, at 3:00 PM GMT; 11:00 AM EST. Unlike our previous, and somewhat brief, survival matches this server will carry a heavier emphasis on creative-survival building in a roleplaying environment. As such a backstory for our server will now be provided:

The land of Asurus is a mountainous, lush region full of trees and rich resources. Its people are a nomadic tribe currently looking to settle down in a remote and peaceful section of Asurus. Tasked with building a thriving community, the Ausurians will need to team up and combine their resources to create a kingdom. Whether that task will evolve without issue remains to be seen. The chance for secession and conflict is always a possibility. It will be up to the Asurians as to whether or not unity can thrive.

As you might have guessed this server will carry a medieval theme. In order to assert creative uniformity in the Kingdom, architects will be responsible for creating buildings within city borders. Therefore those non-architects with job roles will need to properly (and realistically) commission a building through the Architect's Guild. That said, building outside city borders is an option open to everyone.

For the roleplaying aspects and community to thrive I have created a series of job roles which need filling. These job roles will determine your pay scale (currency to work through the iconomy plugin) your social status, your available deeds, and most importantly your responsibilities.

Those interested in a particular job role should PM me by Saturday morning with their top position and a backup.

Primary Job Roles (Set salaries are daily)

Government Jobs
King [Mikester92] - No salary; noble-based: responsible for the Asurus’ security and growth, the King is here to make sure that the law is followed; and when not that justice is applied. Position Filled.

Royal Treasurer [Lazereth] - 128 crowns gpw; noble-based: responsible for collecting taxes, and paying those with government salaries the Royal Treasurer is granted one free Bank Deed. Position Filled.

Guardsmen [Adster94, Dodgers, Ben Hurley, Three of Seven, Rhetorical] - 128 crowns: Provided with tax-free barack housing, the guardsmen is responsible for city security against monsters and players alike. Positions Filled.

Priest [Torinth] - No salary; Royal funding of 128 crowns: Also provided with tax-free housing, the priest is responsible for spreading Asurus’ religious values through peaceful sermons or bloody inquisitions. Position Filled.

Merchant Jobs
Librarian [LynxMukka] - Salary based on sales (10% from deeds sold): Librarians make the bulk of their profit from selling book deeds and book shelves. Along with these items librarians also oversee the upkeeping of city records and the loaning of player novels. Be careful though - the Librarian can charge quite the late fee. Position Filled.

Alchemist [Noram] - Salary based on sales: Also known as the town Doctor, the Alchemist must provide a healthy variety of potions for the town folk. Position Filled.

Blacksmith [Lazereth]- Salary based on sales. Responsible for the sales of weapons and armor, the blacksmith is a resource costly but profitable career for anyone with the skills to manage it. Position Filled.

The Mine Shop [Seeker]- Salary based on sales. Need some stone? Some wood for your floors? Then the Mine Shops is where you'll go. Tasked with the sales of all mined goods this shop is the to-go place for all building resources. Position Filled.

Fabrics Vendor - Salary based on sales. Beds, dyes, and dyed wool are all sold at the fabric shop. A good fabric shopkeeper keeps plenty of sheep close by in a farm and spends the good part of a day looking for dye - their main source of profit.

Foods Vendor [Jordan] - Salary based on sales. Want to sell raw food items or bread? At the Foods Vendor you can sell all the hunted meats and farmed bread citizens need to stay full. Position Filled.

Inn Keeper [Sharpkiller] - Salary based on sales. If someone needs a bed to sleep in or some cooked food then the Inn is where they’ll head to. With the coast of coal these days, the Inn Keeper can make a nice profit with his more competitive cooked food items and cake. Position Filled.

Stable Master [MerTYol] - Salary based on rent sales. Mounted pigs with a carrot on a stick is the newest, fastest way to travel on Minecraft. As a stable master it will be your responsibility to make sure that the stables are filled with pigs and that a supply of carrots on a stick and saddles is present. Position Filled.

General Goods Vendor [Babyhead] - Salary based on sales. If someone needs some flowers for their garden, or some paintings for their house the General Goods shop is the place they’ll head to. Position Filled.

Misc. Jobs
Adventure's Guildmate [Reggie (Leader)] - Salary based on jobs. Is bounty hunting your forte. Wanting to make some money off resource-gathering adventures into dangerous areas like the nether? Then the Adventure's Guild might be the right fit for you.

Secondary Job Roles (Complementary)

Misc.
Noble - No salary; Title received upon purchase of a manor. Those with enough gold to buy a manor are awarded with the title of nobel. Nobels have full on access to the castle and are sometimes tasked with certain oversight.

Architect [Jordan, Torinth] - Salary based on 20% of housing sales. Architects are responsible for building everything within the city walls. Those in need of a new house will normally choose an architect willing to take on the job.

Builder [Babyhead Fleajunk, Lazereth, LynxMukka, Mikester92, Noram, Sharpkiller, Seeker, Torinth] - Royal funding of 64c for every deed made. Unlike architects, builders don't build for other people but are rather granted access to build whatever they like, for themselves, within the city walls.

Farmer - salary based on sales: Responsible for gathering hunted foods or crops, farmers normally support their food shop or work for a food vendor willing to pay a base salary.

Miner - salary based on sales: Responsible for gathering mined goods, miners normally support their blacksmith shop or work for a blacksmith willing to pay a base salary.

Upon receiving a primary job appointment, you will have access to one free deed which can be commissioned via the Guild of Architects. All other deeds, including housing deeds, must be purchased from the town librarian and then given to an architect of your choosing.

Texture Pack

We'll be using the medieval-themed 32X32 Johnsmith Texture Pack on the server; in order to run it you'll need to install the MCPatcher for HD support. I made the decision to select a 32x32 pack as those with low end gaming computers, partly myself on this particular Mac, shouldn't suffer from performance lag with it. We'll also be giving links to Minecraft .jars with Optifire on Saturday for those wishing to use it. Optifire provides extra support for HD texture packs and provides a substantial FPS boost.

Those having difficulties installing this texture pack and patcher should contact me asap for assistance.

I’m looking forward to seeing many of you on Saturday; I know quite a few of you have already expressed interest so be sure to get your PMs in as to what job role you want to fill ASAP. Although not required, it is recommended that a skin matching your job role be used for the server in order to create more realistic atmosphere. Medieval texture pack to be supplied before server start up.

This round of Titan has been a huge success, and to keep it this way new content additions will be coming to Asurus this week! One such addition brings the world of gambling to two new unique public works - a Colosseum and a Jousting Ring. Players will be able to bet on who will win in both these PvP-set arenas to earn some extra crowns.

New and exciting job roles will also be added this week. Already added is the Adventure's Guild career path. You can check it out in the Misc. Job Roles category above. The crown is also looking to reward anyone one sovereign (64 crowns) to whoever can find an NPC village first. Such a village will open new doors to the prospects of trade and incorporation.

A town council will also be formed this week in which we can meet and discuss issues and group town projects for the coming days. These casual meetings allow us to brainstorm together as to what we, as a community, want to see next.

Remember this isn't an event nor is it meant to last a day. To build a thriving kingdom it's going to take at the very least a week. Day one will most likely involve cave living so the job roles won't come into effect until we have a bank and available properties.

So feel free to sign up, even if you can't make it on Saturday.

I completely agree! I am loving the current work on it, and the community feel is amazing love the whole system, makes everyone get involved - might need to make sure people don't do more than they are supposed to, and cut other people out of the circle :/ it is still very amazing! Great work guys!!
