Planet System Launched!

After several months of hard work from our graphics and engineering teams, it is now my pleasure to announce the completion of our new Planet System.

Announced during the June UFPAC, the Planet System brings a whole new plethora of fleet made content to gamers looking for a larger variety of in-game events. Through the planetary system fleet-wide Olympics and competitions can be held and with very little effort too. The system is entirely built with practicality in mind.

Starting now, members will be able to access the Planet System from their My UFP control panel at the top of the forums. Upon entering they will be brought to their affiliated planet (this planet can be changed.) Through this page they will be able to view a member count, medal count history, and a list of upcoming events (if the olympics are on.)

Members will also be able to change their planet of choice through the planetary database. Those wishing to partake in the Olympics games should choose from either Andoria, Bajor, Risa, or Vulcan - Earth does NOT participate in the Olympic Games as the host planet. Earth simply acts as a planet for impartial event coordinators, SFC members, and those members simply wishing to not join in with this new system. That said, this system is not a requirement to use - so members not wishing engage with it need not bother.

Once ready, the first UFP Olympic Games will be held in a timescale of about two weeks. During this season you will be able to see our tally system and integrated event averts at full work. But of course, most importantly, you will be able to compete! As the Planets System is not a game in itself - the fun comes through the hosted events brought in by the system in STO, Elite Force, and other Star Trek games. The winning team of the Olympics will get UFPAC recognition and a potential “winner’s avatar” to be featured on their profile.

Some of clever craftsmanship from this engineering team-made system comes from its integration with other, previously announced systems. For example this Planets System is entirely compatible with our Events System. Upon making an events advert - Olympic Organizers will be able to specify the event as an “Olympic Event” - this allows all olympic events to be advertised in your affiliated planet’s page, as well as in the events tab at the top of the forums for maximum advertising.

Although the first Olympic games are still in the works, we will be sure to keep you updated once we have an affirmative on the season’s start date and events schedule. I’d of course like to conclude by thanking Jordan for his hard work as this system’s chief builder, LynxMukka for all the graphics and Sharpkiller for his support! Through the hard teamwork of a skilled team, anything and everything is possible. Enjoy guys!

The planets are based off visitable planets in Federation space on STO. It allows members to actually call these planets home in-game and allows for future media content to be developed on these maps.

This is a pretty awesome idea!

Now comes the hard part... picking a planet. Vulcan is not so high on the list, too stuffy for me and I'd likely get lynched (Or logic'ed to death). Bajorans are all angry and that whole going to temple thing cramps my hangover time. Risa is an obvious choice, but I bet it will be a popular choice and I have to like it before it becomes popular... and as a Canadian I am awful familiar with Andoria's climate...

... plus they have blue women, thats kind of a plus...

It's like having to pick a character name again, it's the hardest part!
