    just wandering if anyone could tell me if there is a way to make my computer focus on one thing like downloading something instead of doing multiple things that slows down progress.

    with windows 98 and 2000, its easy! other than that. just use the right programs
    Torrenting speed depends on the providers...
    Fileplanet depends on if you have a subscription...
    Steam Is always fast for me....

    Depends where you are getting your game.

    I advise you not to use the STO Downloader as it is a P2P application..... it maximises your upload which in turn will kill your download.

    well for one thing i have vista. would steam still work or would something else. right now I'm using the STO Downloader and sadly I've been downloading this since last night.

    Doesn't matter if the torrent itself is illegal, the words "use the torrent" are perfectly legal so no CoC breach(unless there is a protocol I 'm not aware know of). Smile

    The torrent is distributed by cryptic, and the tracker is hosted by them. So its a legit source. Downloading their torrent using your own software does not violate any copyright rules.

    As such, discussion thereoff is not a violation of the CoC and/or forum rules.

    If youre going to use the torrent, be sure to limit your upload rate to 80% of your max upload rate. This will prevent your connection from becoming saturated thus interferring with incoming traffic. If you have an ISP that will throttle (Comcast does throttle) Then make that about 50% of your max upload rate.

    The thing about torrents is they are done on a Peer:seed ration. The more you Upload, The faster your download will be.

    Actually that depends on what torrent download client you use if I'm correct.
    Some of them force people to upload if they want to download, but some don't.
