    It will be an enjoyable Sci-Fi flick, but not a Star Trek flick...and I think JJ Abrams has been quoted as saying that it wasn't made for Star Trek fans...which is sad.

    Yup TBH, I wasnt real impressed with the original movies nor with TNG ( sure they grew on me over time but back then didnt really care for them) when it started, ppl fear change. That said I know what I am getting into with the reboot, it isnt trying to be exactly like the others, hence the alt-timeline and wasn't tooo bad of a Sci-fi flick. No worst than ST-TMP was when it came out IMO.
    But I have to say I really hope the lensflare is cutdown this time around, that was my biggest bitch about ST '09.

    Oh totally agree. My 'Pro ST' post was mostly due to my sense of irritation at listening to the geekdom go on ad nauseum about how this 'isn't a Star Trek film', especially considering the schlok that has been greedily gobbled down in the past.

    My skin my also be extra thin on this one since I work in a 'geek store' of sorts, so I end up having this conversation a lot. You're totally right, it's people fearing change.

    As for the lens flare, I hope it gets toned down as well: All that stark white finish, as though an Apple store was vomited onto the bridge of the Enterprise, whilst feeling like you're stuck beside a malfunctioning stage light at a Rush concert was a bit much...
