Kevin Ford hands over International Space Station Command

The reins of the International Space Station were passed from Expedition 34 Commander Kevin Ford of NASA to Chris Hadfield of the Canadian Space Agency during a ceremony on the orbital outpost on March 13.

On a personal note, i'd love the opportunity to pay a visit to the ISS and i'm sure i'm not the only one :mrgreen:

You're certainly not the only one Ben, id definitely jump at the chance to go up there, who hasnt looked up at the sky and thought "if only i could..." or "wouldnt it be amazing if...".

I must agree. The childhood dream of looking up at the sky will never get old. I'd personally jump at the chance as well.

Plus go go Canadian Space Agency! Thats right, our modern day Ben Sisko is a Canadian.

Which no doubt meant an extra helping of beer had to be shipped up, the messages from the station take longer because of all the 'Eh?'s, and the military folks will have to get used to someone being overly polite.

So, yeah, not quite DS9... but I'll take it

Yeah, EXTREMELY proud that he's the commander. If I read correctly, he's only the SECOND international commander since the Space Station started operating. Plus he's one of THREE (out of 11) Canadian astronauts to have graduated from my university, the Royal Military College of Canada. That's an awesome ratio.

I've had the opportunity to meet Chris a couple times and chat with him. I even got his business card! He is one of the most interesting guys to speak with, and I would LOVE to follow in his footsteps someday.
