Star Trek: The Video Game (April 23, 2013 release date)

I've read a few articles on this new Star Trek game project, but this -Article- seemed (to me) pretty good. More factual and fair. At least for a first impression.

So... anyone planning on getting this game when it comes out?

I'm curious about the story, as it is supposed to cover (canon wise) the time between the 1st movie and the Into the Darkness set for May 2013.

I know I'm getting is as is Dodgers, we're planning on doing the campaign on coop together .

I'll get it. Though the chances are i'll be moaning though it all. It looks far to violent for my Trek tastes.

As with all dicey titles for me, I will "demo" it first if I play more than a few hours then yes I will pick it up.

I agree and probably won't be getting it. The article says that the game is working hard to be canon but that seems ironic since the new films themselves aren't really canon, in my opinion. So, while it may be a good game, I'm not sure it would feel like a Trek game to me.

I thought about getting it on the PS3 - but I get the feeling it'll end up at a ridiculous discount on a Steam sale eventually. Haven't bought a AAA game at full price in years!

I have been looking at it rather intently actually, and not *just* because of the rampant negativity towards the 'new' Trek and my deep seated need to ensure my minor rebellions.

Funnily enough what I'm most curious to see is if they can make a 'movie' game that doesn't make me feel embarassed to be playing it in my own living room.

Sure the medium of games telling stories attached to the movies isn't anything new, and not just 'playing through the movie', but I think this one might pull it off. So I'm interested to try it.

I *know* I'll eventually play this... just not at release. Not at the $50 (US) pricetag.

And I want to wait til I see the movie first.

I may get it when the price comes down. The graphics look a little lacking and I don't like the sound of the "on the rails" system for the space jumps. (I bet the fools made the Enterprise parts like that as well. )

On the other hand, this could be good. I hope the multiplayer is like the Portal 2 mulitplayer, that was incredibly well done.

Looks very interesting. I like it; I've been hoping for a new console trek game (DAC was... Don't even get me started!) It looks cool, and I like the whole third person thing, like Mass Effect.

Not I. I'm going to wait a bit. Maybe next year when I can buy it for $10-15 US.

And I want to see a bit more reviews from people. Not just the 'expert' reviews, but from regular joes.

It comes out Friday here in England, got the Steam version pre-ordered but if your planning on getting the PC version at least I'd hold off if I were you since apparently the Co-Op is broken and doesn't work.

Just check out the Angry Joe video below or just check Steam for comments.

For those who don't know him Angry Joe does awesome video reviews of video games as a gamer, for the gamer as such he always mentions the bugs and things that reviewers tend to forget. (He posted a few screenshots of the Trek game earlier on twitter one of which was a giant Spock glitch) for example, anyway here's the vid.

OK, so i got my copy today, and i am SEVERELY PEEVED with Game. I pre-ordered this game and i am not getting the bonus content for doing so, AND they did not advertise this was a STEAM game!

Seriously, WTF is the point in selling a CD for a game you have to DL anyway? especially when the CD versions never work.
