Welcome to Issue 2 of 'Today on the Forums!'

Thank you to all those that left feedback on Issue 1, it is very much appreciated. If you could take the time to direct members who have recently joined to this post it might encourage them to be more active on the forum, which is good for all of us!

"Today on the Forums!"


Lead Content Designer Scott "Goatshark" Shicoff wrote the first Legacy of Romulus devblog outlining the lore behind the Romulans coming to the game. It's an interesting read and one of many devblogs concerning the new content coming up. As expected the STO forums came alive with discussion on the new lore and if you wish to get involved you can poke your head in and weight your opinion in one of the more interesting threads concerning it.

A patch was issued on the 4th April, along with extended downtime, to the Holodeck Live server. The patch adds Foundry content for those of us who dare venture into the Foundry, as well as various changes and fixes.

Redshirt received a patch on the 3rd April with some tweaks and balances to the Crystalline Entity. If you want to get some experience with this revamped Fleet Action Redshirt is the place to be right now since today (4th April) there was a callout to the community to log on and try it out.

Speaking of test servers, Tribble saw a bit of action with the addition of 2 patches, the first being a small updateand the latest being a massive list of additions including a whole new system called Warp Cores. These new items will add even more variation to your ship loadout, making those new ship configurations even more difficult to decide now! The patch states that there are tens of thousands of possible warp core drops out there so get ready for those new loot drops!

Ensure you have the bandwidth available since you're essentially downloading the game again, but it's worth the time logging on to test the bigger changes so you know how they will affect your gameplay ahead of time. Cryptic also, on occassion, offer a unique tribble for those that test on the server.

The STO forums, despite it's trolling community, does on occassion offer useful advice since there are a group of avid posters there shining a little ray of hope for those that want to read and post useful information. One section, titled PvP Gameplay, offers some builds and advice for those wishing to venture into the PvP aspect of the game. One of the stickies provides useful links for PvP information, just be aware that the post offers links that I am not responsible for.


And now the UFP Forum!

Posts are reasonably slow on the UFP Forum due to the ability to directly talk to other fleet members ingame or on TS, but I managed find a few gems to talk about;

The Holodeck Forum, General Discussion Forum has been mourning the loss of Disney's latest decision to close down the development of games in LucasArts. I for one will mourn their loss, many an hour I spent on Tie Fighter and X-Wing back in the day, and I wish all employees affected by the layoffs luck in gaining new employment.

Have you signed your Roll Call yet for April? Time is running out! Signing into the Forum you should see where to click quite clearly at the top of the browser window. Don't wait too long to get it signed as time has a habit of slipping by when you least expect it. When you sign your Roll Call you also have the opportunity to leave feedback for SFC to read, use this time to voice your concerns, praises and suggestions about how UFP and SFC is doing.

Exactly the same reason I try to avoid those forums as well. Although being a total NooB to STO makes that unavoidable. Unfortunately it's hard enough to find the info I'm looking for using their Search feature but having to to sift through all the non relevant posts too just adds to the frustration of time wasted that could have been better spent.

Again job well done and greatly appreciated as I get all the pertinent info for both STO and UFP all in one thread. I'm not sure how you find the time but you sir deserve a Medal!
