Margaret Thatcher died today at the age of 87.

Only recently we had a discussion about the former prime minister of the United Kingdom.

And while the long term effects of her policies are highly controversial even today, nobody can argue against her steely determination. The first female head of government of of a large western country followed her beliefs on a path of unbending spirit that earned her a place in history books.

With a mix of annoyance and admiration she was referred to as "The only true man" in the entire European Union, but the title of "The Iron Lady" - given to her by the Soviet army newspaper Red Star - was her greatest pride and made her famous.

Margaret Thatcher was a special woman.

    May she rest in peace.

Indeed, there are many across the UK who will already be slamming her from reigning in the unions and doing her job. May she rest in peace, it's no secret that she suffered from dementia in her closing days. As I have a family member who is going through the same thing, I'm glad in a way she's finally passed on while we still remember her for what she was; a proud and fearsome political figure who's legacy still shapes the world around us today.

    Very nice post.
It was certainly an emotional news event for myself, despite only being around after her "reign". I think I will be traveling up to London to pay my respects to her none the less which will be the biggest funeral since that of Churchill. Something which I feel will be an end of a era.

I have to say despite there being one incident on twitter with "#dingdongthewickedwitchisdead" overall public seemed to put foward their views in a very respectful manner. I was personally shocked to see those on the left pay their respects with postive comments aswell as negative. Considering there were a few left wing "news" Corporations which were stating beforehand that if Thatcher were to die they would not report it.
