What is the Utopia server about?
The UFP Utopia server was initially a survival server back when it was created in 2010. Since then the server has become a creative RPG server which allows members to freely explore their ideas, build bigger and better creations, and to role-play as nation leaders. As a member, you have complete freedom to do as much, or as little on the server as you wish - you can build a city, a settlement, or even just explore what others have made! If roleplay isn't your thing, no worries, we have casual users as well!

Be sure to check out the rest of the topics on our Minecraft Holodeck forum for further details.

How do I join the server?
As a UFP member, you are able to access any and all servers hosted on the UFP server. To gain access to the Minecraft server you will need to send an WHITE-LIST REQUEST to be white-listed on the server and be given member access to certain commands/privileges. To join the server connect to mc.ufplanets.com

    Can I get a tour?
Certainly! If you'd like a tour of our Minecraft server feel free to contact any Moderator or Admin. They give tours and answer questions that may not be covered on the forums or in this FAQ.

What are the ranks on the server?
Members have standard permissions to create their own territories, build on the server, and have basic commands to help them navigate around the world. Mods have access to WorldEdit, enhanced permissions to WorldGuard, and the ability to change several of the server's settings (such as day/night or the weather etc) - they will also help moderate the server against possible griefing. Admins hold the highest rank, and have access to all permissions; at the current time only Starfleet Command members have access to this rank.

    What are territories?
Territories allow members to freely build in a secure area by themselves, or with a friend. When a territory is established, you automatically establish a nation within Utopia, as such you become eligible to be invited to the Utopian Council. As leader of a nation you can establish laws, government, and rule your nation however you like.

Is there a criteria for joining the Utopian General Council?
Generally, to be invited into the council you require a flag (a 3x5 wool symbol of your nation.), a set territory, a seat of government (such as a town hall, castle, or palace.), basic infrastructure and/or special projects (like space ships and landmarks.) and a nomination from an active councilor. Under special circumstances, one may be invited to the general council should they be involved in an existing nation's government.

Can I build on any land without a territory?
At this current time you cannot build freely anywhere on the server without a territory. Once you have established your own land using the technique below, you will then be able to build anywhere within that sector and have the permissions to control it.

How do I create a territory?
You can easily create a territory by following the following instructions (Members cannot build within your territory unless you give them access to build).

    1. Use the command //wand while having a blank slot on your inventory bar. This will give you the WorldEdit wand.
    2. Use //sel poly while having the wand selected to change your selection type. This will allow you to select multiple points to create a territory.
    3. Left click a block to put your first point down and from then on right click to put further points down. You can select a maximum of 30 points. When you finish putting points down your first and last point will automatically connect to each other.
    4. Use the command //expand vert, this will expand your selection to the top and bottom of the map.
    5. Use the command /region define [name] [owner] replace "[name]" with your region name and "[owner]" with your Minecraft Name. The command should look like /region define Rawrtony Mikester92.

To add others to your region just use the command /region addmember [name] [member] where "[name]" is what you called your region and "[member]" is the person you want to add to build in your territory. You can use the command /region removemember [name] [member] to remove a member from building in your territory.

Feel free to contact a Moderator or Admin should you require more assistance with territory set-ups.

How many territories can I own?
At the current time, you are allowed to have only one territory unless you have been given permission to have another by an admin on the server. If you create another territory without prior notification, it may be subject to removal by an admin.

Where can I create my territories?
When you join the server, you may claim a piece of free land to call your own or request an area by contacting an admin who will search for a suitable, unclaimed location and then allow you to claim it using the wand tool.
