Final Commander's Log
I.R.W. Vathros
Commander Artemisia Patterson, Commanding

In a border skirmish with Tal Shiar forces along with several other republic vessels the Vathros was lost. Along with the ship, a starfleet officer assigned to the Vathros was killed when the console he was using exploded, in addition to half of the enlisted and junior officers on the ship that were unable to make it to the escape pods in time. Even after the pods launched we lost 50 more enlisted and junior officers when the pods were targeted by the Tal Shiar. The following ships went down with all hands: R.R.W. Yamato, R.R.S. Centaur, and the R.R.S. Valiant. The Yamato was a D'deridex-class, as was the Vathros. The Centaur and Valiant were Defiant-class federation escorts on loan to the republic. All together we lost about 3/8ths of our group to take out 13 Tal Shiar Warbirds. We won the battle, but at what kind of cost, at this rate the Republic's forces will be exhausted in border skirmishes alone. Arriving shortly after the last of the Tal Shiar ships was destroyed the U.S.S. Constantinople under the command of Commodore Winborne recovered the escape pods while the ships of the republic that remained fell back to Mol'Rihan. "Commodore, I appreciate the help you have provided, but why are myself and my fellow RRF Officers being held here against our will, we are allys of the Federation and we have supported your war with the Klingons as best as we could," says Artemisia. "Your not being held against your will, we are currently trying to find a way to get you home, but until then we don't want you to go out seeking revenge for your lost crew members and ship," says Winborne. "Do not lecture me on the merit of emotion, Vulcan. All that was lost today will be avenged when we finally destroy the Tal Shiar. You say we are not being held against our will then give us a ship and we shall find our way to Mol'Rihan" says Artemisia. "I can't do that and you know it, Commander. My superiors are speaking with New Romulus Command and Admiral Kererek, as we speak to find a way, but until then you must remain here," says Winborne. After pressing a small button on her bracelet Artemisia says "Did you get that clearly Admiral." "There is a bit of static, but yes," says Admiral Kererek. "Commodore, your superiors are not speaking with me, so either they lied to you, or you lied to my officer, which is it." "Fine, Admiral. I am under orders by one of the Admirals above me to keep your officers here, indefinitely, I also have an order of reprisal signed by Empress Sela to hold them here, until the I.R.W. Leahval can arrive here to take custody of your officers as prisoners of war," says Winborne. "Commander, hit the second button on your bracelet for me," says Kererek. "Yes sir," says Artemisia before activating the second button on the device. Once activated the device emits a strong electro magnetic pulse, not only disabling the security holding the RRF Officers prisoner, but also signaling 20 republic warbirds to decloak. "All hands, battle stations, shields up," shouts a federation watch officer in the stations operations center. "All republic warbirds, engage tachyon beams," says Kererek. "Shields are being drained away, shields will be down in 20 seconds, secure the detention facility," shouts the watch officer. "Lock on to our officers, and standby to beam them over," says Kererek. "We have locks, station shields are failing," says the transporter officer. "Energize," says Kererek. "All Officers are being recovered, but one. Commander Patterson is locked in a room with a transporter inhibitor,it must have been in an area shielded from the pulse" says the officer. "Away Team to Transporter Room, we can beam you in, but you'll have to recover the Commander, eliminate the Commodore, and shut down the inihibition field before we can beam you back," says Kererek.
