So yea.. earlier today afternoon my Windows suddenly crashed giving me a black blank boot up screen of death and the only option I had left was to perform a factory reset recovery install.
Now I have to install STO using Arc.. so I will have to use it now 
I was just wondering out of interest if anyone else has it installed and if I can add them to my Arc friend install.. might aswell use it now that I'm installing it.
For those who don't know what ARC is.. it's an attempt from PWE/Cryptic to replace the STO launcher to a joint PWE all game launcher similiar to that of steam or x-fire.

I have it installed on Steam, I installed Arc just for fun and it detected that STO was in the Steam directory, so I imagine that it can still be installed via that too. Not played it standalone since it became available on Steam, just because it makes things easier for me, lol.
Arc might be nice if they add STO coupons...

I use it, Meh, Meh I say. It wouldnt be bad if it was like steam and allowed you to link non-arc games (or non-steam games lol )
Other than launching STO Arc offers nothing to STO, it doesnt even track or have a gateway link. IMO it hasnt been well thought out.

I'm already installing it, so I guess. Though I did notice it's still using the launcher to initiate STO and even install it.. the Arc is just a 'face on'.. maybe I can just find where the launcher is make a desktop shortcut out of it 
But since I don't use steam or anything else fancy I may end up using this either way.

Well you could always just start STO from the .exe, I did this for a longtime, only using the launcher when I needed to patch. You might also just delete Arc after it installs STO. I am still using a old install from 6 months ago, did a reformat but I dont keep my games on C drive backed up and recopied the files not installed on C drive so TBH I have not had to find a workaround for Arc yet.

Ever since Steam success, every publisher wants to have something similar.
Which is very annoying. Nowadays you require multiple launchers that usually dont serve any purpose but costing time and are used for advertising.

If you aren't interested in Arc, you can download the latest version of the STO launcher here
The link in that thread is always updated, so if you ever have any problems and need to download a new version, it's there.

I downloaded ARC, but it wouldn't work with my Logitech MX Mouse. I have special keys assigned and they won't function if I start the game using ARC. If I load the normal STO launcher it works just fine.

I love the idea of these things...all of your friends and games in one place. the problem is each developer having their own....as long as every game was on Steam or something similar it is awesome. But these programs don't work well as long as we have to have a different one for every company's set of games.
