    I recently acquired the Fleet Heavy Escort Carrier and it is my first carrier ship. I could use some words of wisdom on what hangar pets are the best in certain situations and how I should be setting up the overall ship build. I've taken what I know about escorts and set the ship up accordingly. Science consoles are my biggest concern and I know I'll be getting Fleet Weapons as soon as the Starbase gets sufficient provisions for me to acquire them. Smile

    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

    Hi Soral,

    I'm not a Build Master, but for my hanger pets I'm currently using Elite Scorpion Fighter. For my science consoles I'm using 2 Field Generators MK XI Rare and one Plasmonic Leech.

    I would make one suggestion, I would take the skill points out of "Starship Threat Control" and redistribute them to either Weapons or Shields. As an escort the last thing you need is more attention from your enemies.

    am I wrong in the knowledge that the bonuses from Field Generators dont stack? wouldn't an Embassy Sci console work better for an Escort?

    The Field Generators stack linearly. So if one gave +30%, two would give +60%.

    For Science Consoles though, I recommend the +Plasma consoles from our embassy. I started with Emitter Arrays XI to help bring my shields back up, but ended up with Power Insulators when I went up to XII, to help resist those bloody Tholians. Haven't regretted it.

    It doesn't matter what energy you're using, the +Plasma consoles will increase DPS. If you're using Plasma weapons then it's a +% boost, if you're using another energy type then it adds a Plasma proc.

    Beyond that it's a matter of what Science Console you want. Emitter Arrays will buff things like Transfer Shield Strength and Science Team. Inertial Dampeners will resist Hold, Disable, Knock and Slow effects. Power Insulators will resist drain.

    I went with Power Insulators to help against the shield drain that Borg now seem to have (not the Shield Neutralizer, but just a constant shield sapping) and the Tholian's power drain.

    Awesome name firstly!

    You're right about the threat points in my skill tree. That's the one thing that's giving me some heartburn, but I also have a Fleet Assault Cruiser that I fly the most right now. This is more along the lines of a "change of pace" kind of ship. So that's gonna be the Achilles' Heel to my whole setup on this thing.

    I seem to have more trouble with the Tholians totally knocking out my weapons. They aren't draining power, they're just flat targeting my weapons and knocking them out. Wouldn't the Inertial Dampeners be better for that? Or doesn't the "disable" in that apply to weapon power? I've always been a bit confused on that.

    I would imagine that's why some have a few specialized Toons, Tact for escorts, Eng for Cruiser, etc. I'm still grinding out my ROM, so having an ENG or SCI toon is in the far off distance future, especially since I really want to work on a KDF character after I'm done with my ROM.

    I've toyed around with getting a cruiser for my TACT captain as "change of pace kind of ship" myself but not sure how much time I'll actually would have to fly it around. Then there's the question of which ship would match up best with my skill points and play style. Been leaning towards the Galaxy X Dreadnought as I can swap out weapons from my Chimera. We'll see.

    So Many Ships So Little Time!

    I actually switched to Insulators because it was the Borg shield drain that was pissing me off, the Tholian weapon power drain is (as you noticed) less notable than their disables. Note that their disruption torpedoes do affect power though, but personally I just carry a stack of Weapon Batteries with me to deal with the occasional disabled weapon.

    Regarding Inertial Dampeners... I... don't know, actually. Hm. Going by the skill name, I assume it's movement related things, but I'm unclear what "Disable Effects" refer to.

    I went ahead and picked up an Inertial Dempener console just to see how it works. As an escort, I can see the benefit in having the console since it keeps me mobile and keeps my defense bonus up. Have to test it against some Tholians to see how it stacks up to my normal issues with them.

    That's actually what J-La turned into after I started putting all my efforts into Soral. J-La was my original toon so I wanted a reason to keep playing that character, so I went with a cruiser skill setup for a change of pace from Soral's engineer abilities. Alas, I fly two escorts on Soral and a third would've just been a waste of time. So I put it on J-La so I could go back and forth when I felt like it there, lol.

    As you said, soo many ships and soo little time.
