Hello Fleet!
Dark Has put together a Great STO KeyBind Thread located Here
This Thread does not use the Keybind File but Your Keyboard or mouse's Software/Profiles.
The Dreaded Skilltray:
I notice from a lot of screenshots and videos I see floating around the net that some ppl just use their BO tray and randomly have Capt/set skills distributed on the skill tray. Personally I find that fairly wasteful and unweildly, for one if you used your keyboard for skills, you will be all over the place. This thread will hopefully show how I set up my Tray for ease of use and hand strain and also introduce you to setting up a skilltray for static use toward using a Keyboard/mouse MACRO.
Keep in mind how I setup my tray is how I do, nothing in this thread is concrete. Many of you will find your own setups that work best with your style of play.
First we need to setup a 3 bar skill tray and disable the Auto BO Tray. Simply press "ESC" then Rearrange HUD.
This shows how I arrange my HUD, notice the BO Tray is hidden.
Here we get to the meat of this thread the skilltray, you notice a few things, syrgenic powers are kept close together, my most used powers are kept to the #'s 1-5. But Why Grover am I reading this, I know what I am looking at here. Someone notify Medical SG's babbling again.
Hardly......
No you will notice that those 5 keys along with Ctrl and Left Alt are simply within reach of your Lefthand without stretching, So 1-5 activates the lower left 5 powers on the tray, Pressing Ctrl + 1-5 powers on the skilltray. Finally Alt +1-5 activates the upper most Skilltray.
Again play around here, what works best for you , works best for you but using this simple layout most of your powers you are using for your setup should now be with one hands reach.
Again Grover why, Oh Why are you telling me this? Sure everything is all organized now but personally I think your OCD is showing.
Why? Why!!!! I'll tell you why!!!
Again the answer is simple, A static skilltray is absolutely key for Macro's without using a Static setup your not going to be able to keep a chain of commands across ships.
What does this mean?
Simple if you switch ships you can keep the Macro without creating another profile. But only if you use the same skills, or sometimes since switching a skill it would still be inserted into the macro in the same combination.
Always remember: Use combinations that fit your builds and playstyle.
How-To Set up Simple Macros as well as more complex Macro is continued in the next 2 posts.
EDIT: This Thread will be edited Showing Simple Marco setups as well as how to build a more complex Macro for such things as Alpha Striking, switching Modes, ect. It should be up before Monday.

Simple Macro Setup
The easiest to both use and setup, while alot of single button Macro's can be setup using STO's Keybinds we are going to use our hardware's built in features.
So to start off we shall do a Distribute Shields, we know that "2" is is set on our skilltray to distribute shield so all we are going to do is creat a simple toggle Macro.
Open you software to single key Macro's, select "2" as your keystroke, apply a label to the command. Since we want to be able to toggle this on and off we set the repeat option to toggle, add in a delay ( I find 25ms to be about the lowest STO will go without failing to recognize keystrokes )
What is this going to do?
Well now when you first press whatever key/mouse button you have assigned this Macro to your Shields will continuously be distributing while the Macro is active, so until you press the Key/Mouse button again it wont stop. ( Yes this is why I sometimes be babbling 222222222222222222 in chat )
As you can see in the above Image I have also setup a Simple Macro for Fire All Energy Weapons ( note it reads Fire All Weapons but that is a typo it should read Fire All Energy Weapons ) and another for Fire All Torps, since I like to fire my torps Manually. The Energy weapons are on a toggle setup like the Distro but the torps are a 1 press 1 fire setup so no repeat or toggle.
EDIT: Still more to come in Simple Macro Setups, just ran out of time for editing it right now.
"She Whom Must Ne Obeyed" says so.

Psst, I have a mini-guide to multiple-command keybinds here. Something you can build on, if you like.

Thanks Dark this is actually meant as a hardware alt to using STO keybinds as I will be dealing with using Macro capable KB/Mice. Sadly STO's Keybind lacks greatly for complex commands, sure distro and fireall are useful but get timed chained commands it just isnt capable.
Like this large complex Chain:
I will add in a link to your guide though since they do complement each other, if you dont mind.

Yup should, I dont use the Blackwidow , but I believe for say a distribute shields, you would use the "toggle continues playback on/off using assigned key". With the "2" being your Macro. So Start a New Macro, for the record input press "2" then under "Playback Actions" select " toggle continues playback on/off using assigned key". Save. Now when you depress the Macro button you assigned the macro to it will continually press "2" until the macro key is pressed again. So with "2" assigned on out skilltray to distribute shields, pressing the macro button shall continuously distribute shields until pressed again.
That would be for Synapse.
I need to get this wrapped up, just been busy.

That's the keyboard I have.
In synapse, you have to record macros first under the Macros tab, there will be a dropdown box listing your macros with a + below it./ Click that then the record button and record your macro, then click stop.
Once your macros are recorded, go back to the keyboard tab and click the key you want to bind. it will bring up a window. Select macro in the key assignment dropdown then you can select the macro and how you want it to play when the key is pressed
You can bind all of the keys including the M keys, though I don't actually use them for macros, I have mine set up to swap modes opn my Nostromo (since I have different modes fro ground and space)
