One question I haven't seen an answer for Normy - is it a subscription-model, F2P or taking the Guild Wars route?

It is sort of a hybrid model. Once you buy the game, you'll be able to play it with no need for a subscription.

However, you do have the option of paying a monthly premium in exchange for what they're calling a 'Quality of Life' account, which will give you things like a longer offline build queue, automated trade routes, and some control over which planets the Overwatch A.I. prioritizes while you're logged off.

Ladies and Gentlemen, with less than 3 days left in the Kickstarter, Novus has reached it's $230,000 stretch goal and with it, The Cauldron Born playable race.

The Cauldron Born are a race of highly sophisticated artificial beings, originally created by the Veru'nas. Similar to the Acaeans, the Cauldron Born exist in an extraordinary range of body shapes and sizes, meaning there is a Cauldron Born specialized for nearly any task in any environment.
Now that the Cauldron Born are free of the Veru'nas, they've set about building an empire based on pure machine logic.

Alpha keys should be going out over the next two weeks, for those anyone who pledged at that level. In the meantime, some stats from the campaign:

3900 people pledged a grand total of $268875, reaching the funding goal in just 102 hours, then spending 42 more days smashing through stretch goals and providing more than triple the campaign's goal of 75000. And finally, we can't forget, this is just from the kickstarter, the PayPal option that launched in the beginning of January provided an additional $18000 on it's own.

I had to flip a coin and go either for this or Star Citizen. Since it seems closer to completion, the latter won out. I'm hoping they come out with more game packages later on. The fact it looks and plays too much like SotSE didn't help.

Good news everyone! In the livestream today Nick announced that we'd be seeing some really cool stuff coming in the next few days.

First of these is Capital Ships, which should be one of the first new features implemented.
Second is the implementation of Research and updating cycles.
Third, and perhaps most importantly, is server persistence
Fourth, with persistence comes the fix for the memory leak that has been bringing the server down.
And finally: Gifting spare Infiltrator keys!
