    Good day all,

    I'll start by wishing everyone a Happy New Year and all the best for 2014.

    I had a quick question regarding science ships.

    WIth the Lobi Crystal give away I have plenty to get a Loby store ship. I also have enough Zen to get a C-store ship. So my question is the following.

    What ship would be good for a Fed Sci toon? I currently fly a Luna and it's working out pretty good, dps is low but than again I haven't taken the time to outfit it properly.

    With the advice regarding ships if you could provide with ideas for builds, I'm really bad at that, it would be greatly appreciated.

    My SCI's almost all fly the Vesta, the SCI version. 3x AUXDHC up front, KCB abd omni AP beam in the rear for subsystem targeting. and 1 Fleet elite turret for the heal proc.
    I run a drain setup so 5x fleet flowcap consoles, mixed Hull heal/shield heal and plasma proc. I run @ 125 AUX ( 130 with core) this allows my drains/subsystem targeting and ES/GW/TR to have a good bite as well as maxing out my AUX DHC. Sure I lose a bit on the rear weapons but Meh there turret/ 360 beams so it isnt a huge lose.
    Mix in some Yellowstones for pets and plenty of hold/drain going on.
    Add in a Leech console and power levels are maxed or @ 100. I also use the MKXII Borg set to bolster shields and hull heals.
    Easily solo gateways/cubes, groups of Negvars. Also works well in PvP.
    Out of the Lobi store the Palisade is okay as well is the Recluse but IMO they are more specialized than the above setup, I can seamlessly go from a ESTF to PvP . Turn rate with a RSC fleet console( All res) and your turning close to a scort.
    Remember if your looking at one of the Lobi Ships, you can transfer a toon to Tribble then open or buy a lobi ship and test, so if it isnt your style then nothing wasted.

    I agree with the Vesta, even if I just flew it like an escort.

    If you're Science-heavy, the ability to ignore Weapon Power in favor of Aux (due to the Aux DHCs) cannot be ignored.

    I'm a Vesta fan too now. I run a very similar build to SG, though I'm using the 3 piece console set so not as many Flow cap consoles for me. Despite that I can effectively shut down all but dreadnought class ships, run ESTF's without breaking a sweat, 1st place in CE and on the rare occasion I PvP, perform well too. All subsystems running at 100+ (aux at 130 always, naturally) in combat so no never any power problems. I mostly use beams for the subsystem targeting and mixed in a chroniton launcher for kicks as well. I've also forgone a set in favour of elite fleet shields/deflector/engine/core, I just like them.

    Obviously I'm not built for DPS, more a personal preference to have a plethora of control tricks up my sleeve (I've got VM and TB+shield drain doff in there too). I always put fun ahead of winning but I don't have much trouble with the latter, then again I've not taken on SG yet ;P

    I have the 3 pack also but you dont need the 3 pack for 3xAUX DHC all you need to do is claim the ship ( whatever 1 you choose) strip the DHC, dismiss, rinse/repeat.
    I used to use the consoles mind you, the phaser lance and hull heal are very nice but found my drain setup works better for ME, for me YMMV.

    Leech console from Tal Shiar (IIRC) lockbox or off the exchange and high flow caps, flowcap boost the drain and boost of leech, leech stacks.

    I will try and post up my specific build in the AM, it's just about midnight here.
