Have a few cruisers laying around in the hangar that need some gear; also have a few untrained BOFFs who could be used to back them up. I have a halfway done Odessey-class with plasma beams but I'm seeing following the Dyson Events that anti-proton seems to be all the rage. I'm curious as to a generic cruiser build that I could use to shift from hull to hull for ♥♥♥♥s and giggles. I use my cruisers for fun than effectiveness. Thanks again for all the help thus far. On a separate note thanks to you all your suggestions I went with the Fleet HEC and am enjoying it immensely.

Nothing wrong with Plasma beams, they still have the [+Plas] Sci consoles and drain-free rep array going for them.

The only new thing Anti-Protons have is the new +Crit consoles, which will synergize well with their increased severity. Yes, there's the Obelisk set that gives +10% (not base) damage, but that means you can't use an [AMP] warp core, so it's not enough incentive for me to junk existing plasma builds.

Especially since they fixed the energy drain for FAW (without fixing the bug where you can't crit!), the rep plasma array is attractive.

Roger that. Then I'll slap together a plasma beam base build. Which eng or sci consoles would likely best support a plasma build. I have the Obelisk warp core but no others at the moment, and a Jem'Hadar space set for filling Impulse, Shield and Deflector slots. Got about 20 mill in EC if I need to go shopping. That makes sense with the new anti-proton builds being the new 'in' thing. At least from when I'm pubbing. I heard good things about plasma ages ago and it seems to be the case now too.

Well before I make any suggestions I do have one question. What class are you? I run both plasma and AP on various ships. On non Tacts I would say 100% plasma for the exact reasons Dark laid out above. My Vesta and Oddy/Avenger run full rommy plasma beam arrays. For my Tact I run AP DHC's to get max use out of attack pattern alpha!

But you really cant go wrong either way.

I'm a Tac captain. As far as hulls are concerned I have an Oddy, Sov, Gal, Const Refit and an Ambassador. Hope that gives you the data you were looking for.

I gimp myself because I'm just enough of a canon nerd that my Federation starships use phasers. Not great in PvE, but pretty good in PvP. But, I've observed a lot of people I trust using the Romulan Reputation Plasma Beams and the Romulan Experiment Plasma Beam to very, very good effect with their Aux2Batt setups.

Just in the past week I've made three changes: One, I finally got the Marion DOFF. Two, I finally broke down and replaced my Quantum Launcher with a Fleet Phaser Beam Array. Three, I changed my Avenger's setup from APO1, TS2, BFaW1, and TT1 to BFaW3, APB1, BFaW1, and TT1. Just those three changes and I've seen a verified 3,500DPS increase.

Which eng or sci consoles would likely best support a plasma build.

For Eng consoles, I actually don't carry any - all my universal consoles go there. Tac consoles are full of the +Plasma consoles, and Sci consoles are all [+Plas] from our Embassy. As for which of those Sci consoles, it depends on your build and loadout. If you have a Plasmonic Leech (which is awesome), then you'd want to use Flow Capacitor versions to give you more drain and power. If you don't, I'm personally a fan of Power Insulators because the Borg and Voth are annoying.

If you're going Plasma, remember to grab the console in the set with the drain-free plasma beam, as that will give another boost to Plasma damage. Really, there's a lot of current gear that specifically support Plasma, which is why it's a good energy choice.

Antiproton weapons benefit from the Spire consoles more than others, but the only Antiproton specific boost is from that warp core - which again limits your ability to use more powerful Fleet cores.
