I've got a couple of spare beta codes for this weekend if anyone would like them.

Could I please ask though that you not ask for one of the keys unless you are actually interested in possibly purchasing the game? I would rather the keys go to those that might use the beta access to make an informed decision on whether the game is for them rather than someone that would just like something new to play for a weekend but has no interest in actually getting the game at all.

I'm still debating if I want to buy this or not, I'm swaying towards getting it but then I'm also looking at the Imperial version for the shinies, but the price is kinda swaying me off, wondering if people who have got it think it's worth the price or not?

People I know who were in the beta weekends were very unimpressed. Not good enough for a $15/month subscription.

Having played a little bit of the beta my thoughts are

The Good

- Awesome combat. Far more immersive than most MMOs where you actually have to use movement, timing and blocking if you want to do well. Combat is intense and feels much more realistic than most MMOs on the market.

- Great graphics. Not as good as Skyrim obviously given the number of player controlled characters on screen but still one of the best looking MMOs out there with pleasantly authentic art style as opposed to more cartoony art styles like WoW.

- Detailed character creation. For an MMO the degree of customisation is very impressive, not quite as detailed as STO where there is a slider for literally everything but more than enough variety that you can easily make a unique character.

- Good character progression. The amount of variety you can have in your character set up is great, you can for example be a magic user that wears heavy armour and dual wields hammers if you wanted to, as with other Elder Scrolls games your skills improve based on what you do so if you use swords all the time your character gets better with one handed weapons allowing you to unlock one handed weapon specific skills. Your race, profession, armour type, weapon type and guild memberships all allow you access to different abilities giving you great freedom to make a character you want.

- Awesome sound. Music is very good as always with Elder Scrolls games and NPCs appear to all be fully voiced, there is also a truly world class cast including Michael Gambon, Bill Nighy and Malcolm McDowell, even John Cleese makes an appearance.

PvP. There is factional PvP combat almost identical to that of Guild Wars 2 but with up to 2000 players taking part at once. Watch the video below for a taste.

The Bad

- Some bugs. Nothing that seems game breaking yet, probably the best beta I have played in terms of stability but I did have one occasion of a NPC needed for a quest not spawning but this was easily fixed by dropping the quest and taking it again.

- Not a dynamic sandbox. The game world is pretty huge and full of stuff to do but it isn't the same sandbox you get with other Elder Scrolls games as you don't get the same dynamic events that made Skyrim seem like such a real living world.

- No player housing. Boo!

- Quest markers. There is no mini-map, although you can pull up a map screen, this means you navigate similar to how you did in Skyrim with a compass bar across the top of the screen, this can occasionally be a little annoying and quest markers sometimes direct you to a general area rather than the exact spot of your next objective, to some this might add to the immersion as if you are say directed to investigate a cave it might not seem real to have a marker tell you exactly where in the cave to go.

The deed is done, I loved what I played of the Beta, but it took me some time to really contemplate the pricing before I took the plunge, but it's done now I have it so I look forward to getting stuck into the PvP and other aspects of the game
