Kumari Alternative

Recently, I've been investing time into my fed tac who has been neglected for quite some time. She currently flies the Charal class and I'm pretty happy with my current build.

The problem is that I'd like to outfit her with AP, but those sweet wing cannons are phaser only. I'm debating if I should strip the wing cannons for AP. I'm also considering putting the ship into dry dock for awhile and seeking opinions and recommendations for an alternative escort class. I only fly PVE. I'm leaning towards a carrier escort so that I can deploy some scorps, but looking at all options.

Thoughts?

Sounds like my former main. I haven't played him in ages.

You can buy Fleet Andorian Phasers (like me, though I use those on my Cruisers) and that way you could use the wing cannon still. If you want to use AP, you can strip the wing cannon off, it won't hurt it much. I've done both and there's no real difference. The difference only comes if you own all the Andorian ships.

If you are looking at the Heavy Escort Carrier (HEC), you'll probably want to make sure that you run with Wing Commander trait as you'll only have a single dock to launch ships from and the faster you build up your ships, the better those ships will be. You can also lower the launch times by running absurd auxiliary, but you may not want to do that (since you'll lose focus from other areas). The only downside is that you'd need to buy the Fleet version to get access to the 10th console as HECR (Heavy Escort Carrier Refit) is only 9.

That's about it really.

I do have the entire Kumari set, but I've been reading that only the overload console is worth keeping. I like the wing platforms, but half the time they are facing the wrong way and not firing. The damage they do provide seems mostly cosmetic, so I feel like the slot could be better used on something else.

Any opinions on the JHEC? This ship seems popular among the fleet.

I may just stick with the Kumari if their is no appreciable difference between using the wing cannons and slotting another heavy cannon instead. I do like the ship and a few tweaks with my boff powers have made it far less fragile than when I started working on it again.

One of my friends has a high DPs pve build made for stf speed runs. When I get home from work I will post the build. I will note now that it is made to be flown with good groups. A lot of death would follow if used in weak pugs.

I personally think it's the bee's knees, very tanky while hitting very hard.

I don't have access to my spreadsheet at the moment, but I'm getting over 10k DPS in all eSTFs. Roughly 13k, iirc.
