Absolutely No Discrimination Policy at the UFP

UFPlanets.com, is an almost 12 year old community, with a rich history, an evolution of development and a clear theme, that all of us are here for our love of Star Trek and the ideals that it represents. It came to my and FEO's attention recently, that we need to re-emphasise one important concept - our complete intolerance to allowing discrimination, in any way, from affecting our community.

Making racial, sexual, homophobic, religious or ageist remarks in any form, including in "jokes", posts or comments is absolutely not tolerated and myself and FEO are keen to demonstate we will remove those individuals from the UFP immediately.

Users who choose to take part in anything with the UFP community, agree to follow the rules that we have set out. Anyone who cannot agree with the simple ideal of getting on with their fellow UFP'ers, then I would encourage you to think whether the UFP is the right place for you on the internet. We are not an exclusive club, but we're also not a place where we feel we can allow members to attempt to or successfully insult or offend other members without there being repercussions.

At the UFP, we're building a community for the future that follows the ideals of Star Trek and so inherently, we have to ensure the spirit of the UFP and its morals align with that. If we accept anything less, then we have failed.

I ask everyone to join me in showing their support for this continued policy we have here and their show of faith for the future.

The thing that makes Star Trek so compelling is the ideals it promotes. As fans we should seek to embrace the higher standards that Roddenberry dreamed humanity could one day achieve rather than turning away from them. Discrimination has no place here.

I have always been a big believer in equality and no discrimination, it's often a point in Star Trek about equality. So I can say with all confidence that I fully support this policy.

I was astounded and disgusted at the talk I heard the other day, not just by the nature of it, but that any person from this community could think or talk in such a way.

The UFP is an extraordinary community, and the fact that anyone would want to be a part of this community yet behave in the way I witnessed is deeply disappointing.

That being said, I'm glad to see our leaders taking swift action to correct any ill-considered misconception that any sort of serious attacks against anyone will be tolerated.

I agree to support for this policy is something I stand by strongly and I am glad this has been mention and continue to enforce as we do not put up with it in education or work place so why should be put up with it in community such as this .

It's certainly good to see a public announcement regarding the UFP's stance on equality and respect in the wake of recent events.

Part of what makes this community such a great place to be is the maturity and tolerence of its members as well as their willingness to accept those from all walks of life. Bigotry has no place here, nor does feigned ignorance.

It is indeed a shame that this had to be re-iterated, we have a large, diverse Community from all walks of life, we are here to have fun and make friends with one overriding thing in common - our passion for Star Trek.

There is no place for this sort of bigotry here and i fully back this policy to the hilt.
