The past several months have seen a steady increase in Cellarian military capability. Firmly entrenched in several outposts throughout Cellaris, my advisers and I have continued to take all necessary steps to achieve our collective goal of liberating Caprica city. Intelligence reports from operatives in the field have confirmed the worst. Under the rule of the self-styled Emperor Thaan, brutal measures have been put in place to ensure that all opposition is silenced.

Three concentration camps have been set up on the outskirts of the city, which are used to detain and interrogate Caprican and Satsumarian citizens at will. It seems that those living in occupied Satsuma are fairing far worse, with extreme rations and shortages as most produce is routed to the capital to further maintain the illusion of stability.



This map represents the current Utopian political situation and is being used as a reference to formulate the safest routes from which to launch attacks on Thaan's forces. This map clearly shows Cellaris' position leaves it bordering and surrounded by the vast territory of the Imperial Remnant - a concern which plays on the minds of most resistance leaders. The Emperor himself has been absent for years, with only a handful of mixed reports coming from within Rawrtony proper. The popular yet unfounded rumour is that the Emperor is dead, another states that he is currently liaising with Thaan to negotiate an Imperial alliance. Regardless of the truth behind these rumours, they are causing morale to plummet.

Military action must be taken soon to ensure a future for this resistance. However, on a more positive note, we still receive generous support from Confederate states. The most recent support coming in the form of a delegation of financial and economic experts from Elysium, who have been sent to render much needed assistance in the face of massive economic instability. Novican botanists are also due to arrive within the week, to assist in the construction of environmentally compatible infrastructure in such a heavily wooded region - an issue which has been slowing progress for months. For all of this support, I extend the unending thanks of all Caprican people.

EMPEROR ON PROGRESS

With Imperial rule now absolute and stable, Emperor Thaan has embarked on his first progress throughout Caprican territory. With rogue political elements either eliminated or subdued, the Empire is free to begin taking steps to ensure a prosperous future. As such, the Emperor and his leading advisors are currently touring all central Caprican territories to inspect defenses and build relations with local communities.

The Emperor is currently visiting Satsuma, where he has been talking with and offering assistance to the newest citizens of the Empire. Satsumarian dignitaries greeted the Emperor warmly in view of large crowds of elated locals. The formal appointment of a new Imperial vizier for Satsuma will be broadcast live from Satsuma tomorrow evening. Prior to this auspicious event however, the Emperor will be visiting various businesses and local establishments to support his people through these difficult times.

As this first day of the Imperial Progress draws to an end, the Emperor will spend the night in the ancient and ancestral palace of the Satsumarian Emperors. The next few days should see the Emperor implement a variety of civil programs with the intent of modernising infrastructure within Satsuma for the benefit of all Imperial Caprica.

Earlier this morning, the Caprican government-in-exile authorized a first strike against the Imperial regime which currently occupies 90% of Caprican territory. Our new and technologically advanced x-wing fighters were tasked with striking outlying supply lines to the Capitol. Their mission was successful, and Caprica City is now cut off from all inbound supplies, most importantly those from occupied Satsuma.

This operation is the beginning of a major offensive which has been planned over the course of months alongside various CSUN states. At this moment, the Hesperian Fleet, accompanied by the Type-45 CS Nebuchadnezzar, is on route to engage the Caprican Imperial Fleet, which is anchored just off the coast of Vallis. With luck, we will soon have a foothold on the continent.

Late last night, Cellarian resistance forces launched an all out assault on occupied Satsuma. The attack was launched from within Hesperian territory, and the combined air and land assault quickly subdued the minimal imperial defenses in the region. Losses were minimal, as all available x-wings and y-wings were deployed to quickly establish air superiority. A battalion of Vergis Mk1's alongside the famed Binhilde Mk2 class tanks were used to quickly traverse the streets and subdue all resistance within Satsuma City.

As of this broadcast, Satsuma's full sovereignty has been restored, and she is once again an independent member of the Confederacy of Sovereign Utopian Nations. The Emperor of Satsuma is currently returning from his time in exile (spent under the protection of the Libran Federation) to his territory, bringing with him the might of the Satsumarian loyalist forces the accompanied him during his exile.

CSUN forces are now preparing for a joint assault on Caprica City, with massive fleet movements being monitored all across Utopia. Emperor Thaan is expected to launch reprisal attacks against CSUN states imminently, as Utopia descends into a state of world war.

30 minutes ago, elements of the Imperial Grand Fleet, the most loyal of Thaan's forces, set an intercept course for the Hesperian Fleet currently stationed off the coast of Caprica City. This decision will likely prove to be the opening salvo of the desperate Emperor's attempt to relieve the stranglehold the Confederacy currently has on the besieged capitol. With tanks already on the outskirts of Caprica and reports of mass civilian uprising coming in from multiple reliable sources, Thaan has clearly set his mind to the task of reestablishing his control over the entire continent.

The Imperial Fleet will enter combat within the next 10 minutes, and as the rightful leader of the Republic of Caprica, I intend to fight alongside our Hesperian allies aboard the newly repaired CS Nebuchadnezzar, the same ship which ensured the survival of the true government of Caprica during the intial coup. The outcome of this battle could affect the political landscape of the region for decades to come.

VICTORY

The Imperial assault on the Hesperian Fourth Fleet has been repelled successfully. The battle was hard fought, but from what reports we have received so far, all Confederacy ships survived the engagement, albeit in various states of disrepair.

This decisive victory means that Hesperia currently has unchallenged naval dominance over the region, at least until Thaan can muster reinforcements to his coast. The Imperial battleship ICS Imperator was sunk with all hands, along with the destroyer Hades. Furthermore, two other Imperial ships were critically damaged and were forced to strike their colours. Faced with heavy losses and the destruction of most accompanying jets, Thaan's remaining ships signaled their surrender to the Hesperian flagship at 18:00 Utopian Time.

We have just received word that during the course of the battle, King Lockley was critically wounded whilst aboard the Nebuchadnezzar. He has been rushed to Hesperia for emergency surgery. It was last reported that he had fallen unconscious due to blood loss. It is not yet clear if he was mortally wounded.

Spurred on by the victory at the Battle of the Straits of Hesperia and the critical condition of the President-in-Exile, Republic forces have pushed further into Caprican territory. The Confederacy Council House has now been liberated and a garrison of four ATTEs have been dispatched to hold Unity Square and to ensure that the Council House does not fall back under Imperial control.

The flags of all Confederate states, which have been absent from the southern facade since Thaan's ascension, have once more been raised in defiance of Imperial rule. CSUN forces have established a firm foothold on the continent, helped in large part by the liberation of Satsuma earlier this month, which is now acting as a staging ground for further incursions into Imperial territory. Many citizens of the Republic who have been living under the tyranny of Thaan have begun making the dangerous crossing into Satsuma to join the resistance movement. Reports from those who successfully made the journey state that starvation and the brutality of the Imperial regime has only served to hasten unrest from the citizenry within the Empire.

Despite attempts by the Caprican Intelligence Service (CIS), Thaan's current whereabouts remain unknown, and no public address has been released by his staff in recent weeks.

Also, CAP News can now confirm that President-in-Exile Lockley is alive and stable in intensive care at an undisclosed Hesperian Medical facility. It appears that during the Battle of the Straits of Hesperia, shrapnel caused by Imperial weapons fire struck the President in both the chest and hip. The extent of his injuries remains a guarded secret, with the Hesperian government offering no official statement on the matter.

CAPRICA LIBERATED

With the defeat of the Fourth Fleet, Imperial resistance has entirely crumbled. Republic forces have liberated the Caprican Capitol and secured Caprica City in its entirety. Leading figures within the Imperial government have offered a formal surrender, however it has been reported that Thaan has fled Caprican territory - Republic forces remain on high alert.

With the republic restored, the President - who has remained out of the public eye since being wounded during the Battle of the Hesperian Straits - is en route to the Capitol aboard CS Nebuchadnezzar.

With most of the Caprican Navy, army and economy severely weakened due to the prolonged conflict, the republic has a long way to go to reestablish itself as a global power. The next few months will be spent ensuring the health and wellbeing of all Caprican citizens is restored and justice is brought to those Caprican collaborators who worked alongside Thaan.

This marks a great day within CSUNs history, as a tyrants corrupt reign comes to an end, the Libran people and I offer our congratulations on the successful liberation of Caprica and that peace has once again, began within the Confederacy. It has been a long and hard journey, one that has come with large losses on both sides, but it was all for the main principle by which CSUN stands - peace and liberty.

The Libran Federation will provide any and all assistance to any man hunt for Thaan, with him still at large all military forces and intelligence units within the Federation will hunt down his location and prevent him from causing any trouble within CSUN again. Now that the war is over, we can move forward with further development and the long lasting peace that we all strive for.

I echo Elysium's call for the dissolution of the General of the Confederacy and will step-down in accordance to the CSUN charter, I am proud that I was able to head the Confederacy's military operations during this devastating crisis and will happily step-down. Alongside this, I would forward a motion to keep the CMC instated and the officials currently representing their respective CSUN nations, to stay within this council to help prevent further issues in the future and ensure our continued peace and prosperity.

This is a proud day for all of CSUN and I hope with the liberation of Caprica, this will ensure our commitment to peace.

Given the need for greater security in the wake of the Caprican Civil War, an unprecedented joint project has been commissioned. Bringing together the usually fearsomely competitive Vergis Corporation and Graystone Industries to work alongside the Cellarian Engineering Corporation, the newly reformed government has requested a new class of ship be constructed.

The resulting prototype is now undergoing rigorous testing and will likely be brought into full service before the month is out. CS Caprica, the first of the Archer class interstellar scout vessels, has been outfitted with only the finest materials and technologies available within Caprica. A purely Caprican effort, the Archer Class was designed with speed and maneuverability in mind. Sitting at only 85m in length (compared to the Ares 263m), the Caprica is dwarfed by the majority of ships currently in service across the Confederacy.

Having a massively redesigned power transfer system (courtesy of Graystone Industries), the Archer class is vastly more efficient than all previous Caprican spacefaring vessels. Whilst the Ares remains the flagship and still possesses a significantly more destructive arsenal, the Archer class is not designed with combat as its primary function. This ship is designed to intercept, evade and scout, and as such can reach a far higher warp factor than any previous Caprican Starfleet ship. Armed lightly with 3 sets of phaser banks and carrying a small stockpile of torpedos, it is hoped that this new class of ship will help bolster Caprica’s defensive and exploratory needs, whilst requiring a minimal crew complement of 14.

It has also been announced that the first ship of this class, CS Caprica, will be heavily modified and will act as the new consular ship and Presidential transport ship for President Lockley. As such, a new specially constructed landing area has been built adjacent to the Caprican Capitol, meaning Caprica will permanently be based planetside.
