    It's mildy amusing for a bit but was there really a radio program around this sort of thing? Like an hour or more of this sort of thing?
    and people listened to that?

    Surely there was something better on, like Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy or what not

    Yes, but most Dr. Demento creations were used on morning shows as part of the program, instead of being a continuous stream of songs. I still have a large collection of Dr. Demento clips around here somewhere, some of them are pretty funny!

    Dr. Demento had a ton of funny & weird stuff. 6-10pm Sundays on KMET in L.A., in the 70-80s, later went national. He actually was the person that got Weird Al Yankovich's career started.
