Tier 5 Hourly Rep Projects

With the changes to the Reputation System in Season 9 an Hourly project has been added to each faction upon reaching completed Tier 5, upon completion this project yields Dilithium and an Item which can be sold for an EC profit.

If your intention is to convert your marks into Dilithium then it is recommended that you do so via this new project, as while it will take longer to convert, the Dilithium and EC yield after two projects is greater and requires less marks than the direct conversion.

NOTE: This project will only unlock after Tier 5 has been completed.

Nice tip, while the 1 hour mission takes long, it's better value as it costs less marks, added to that, with the Romulan reputation, there is a chance to get the weapons in a box, which are nice

For some more under geared characters, this can provide some beneficial items (or junk) but I think it works out to be better value for marks.

Acquiring Kits and Modules

Greetings one and all, with the introduction of the kit changes, some players may not have had the chance to get the old fleet kits to trade them in, or have the Fleet Credits to buy some more, thankfully there are ways to get kits and modules.

Within the updated Borg Advance missions (read Wixibans thread here), the Assimilation mission will award you a career specific kit and module, both of Mk XI V.Rare quality, these will help get you started and if you get a module you don’t like, some still have a high EC value on the exchange.

Other modules you can pick up as you go along on ground maps, generally they will be of low quality but will help to give you some effectiveness. The Undine reputation at Tier 3 will also give the option to get a module at the cost of 250 Undine Marks/3,000 Dilithium/20,000 Energy Credits. The modules available are Nanite Medical Generator (Engineer), Nanite Sonic Pulse (Science) and Bio-Molecular Photon Grenade (Tactical) all of Mk XII V.Rare quality.

It is possible that other reputations will get kits and modules, but in the meantime, I hope this helps you to build up an effective kit for combat! If you have any questions, we are always happy to assist.

Yeah, I'm one of those still to get a new kit. It's scrounging up those fleet creds that's slowing me down but I'll get there soon enough.

Something interesting I noticed about the Undine rep modules, they're account bound on equip as opposed to char bind on pick up like most rep gear so if you've only got one char doing the rep you could have it pumping out modules for your alts. Or buy them on the exchange if you've EC to burn.

Free Lobi

Free Lobi?

This week sees the return of the Featured Episode Reruns and you get free lobi from doing 1 mission a day.

Here is this week’s tip.

Run either the "Spin the Wheel" mission on Drozana or run "Cold Call" of the Defera mission. The popular choice is to run spin the wheel as you can complete it in about 5 minutes as all you have to do is speak a little and tap a few consoles.

To save you the trouble of figuring out the puzzle, for quickness I have included the order sequence below.

1. Replicators
2. Environmental Controls
3. Gravity
4. Defense
5. Environmental
6. Replicators

The reason I have chosen this tip is because if you do it daily on 1 character, over the course of the event you will end up with 180 Lobi for free - which for only 5 minutes a day is a great little freebie.

I had to do the Bajoran FE series 6 times during the last run. Although it is a good story, the walk and talk on Bajor is only fun once. Similar to the first Dyson FE, but thankfully not as long.

Distribute Shields Keybind

Keybinds can be a little confusing but often provide great rewards. One of the most important Keybinds is to bind the Distribute Shields command to your fire key, this ensures that your shields are redirecting to any damaged faces at all times.

When in space copy and paste this command into your chat box and press Enter.

/Bind Space "GenSendMessage HUD_Root FirePhasers $$ +power_exec Distribute_Shields"

If your fire key is not Space then change the word above to reflect your fire key.

Tip 9
Building Your Ship

So you are looking to build a ship, take sometime to plan ahead, use the STO Academy builder to plan what your skill tree will look like and what loadout to go with. It can also be used to create a link to share with others to get their views on your creation. If you need to build up Energy Credits and Dilithium, it means you have a base to work from.

When you are looking at Bridge Officer powers, as a general rule, don’t use more than two of the same power, this won’t have any added benefit. If you are using an Aux2Bat build, you will only need one of each power, with the exception of Auxiliary to Battery. Also make sure the powers match what you are building your ship for, so as an example, if you are using all Beam Arrays then you won’t slot cannon powers, such as Cannon Scatter Volley.

Moving onto weapons and consoles, make sure all the energy weapons you use are of the same weapon type, so if you have a phaser beam array, then make sure all your other weapons are phaser. This ties in with the tactical console slots, if your ship has 4 tactical slots, you should fill them all with tactical consoles which match the weapon type you are using, this will boost your damage. There are some builds where you might not need to use tactical consoles and can use this space for universal consoles, generally these would be healer/support builds rather than damage builds.

Ship building can often be subjective, experimenting can be a good idea, but make sure you read what a console does before putting it on, make sure it suits the end goal. Something like the Nukara Particle Converter is going to be more beneficial on a beam boat than a cannon ship. If you would like someone to look over a build you have made, the best thing to do would be to make a topic within this section (Help and Tips) or chatting with people on TeamSpeak about your ideas!

Risa Summer Event

Well this weeks tip is all about the Risa summer event.

First off like last year, you can participate in the floater challenge courses to earn Risian pearls that you can trade for a Risian corvette, or a Risian luxury cruiser as well. This ship is a space yacht with all the amenities - a floating reminder of your summer vacation that you can take to the stars!

Once you’ve earned the corvette or the luxury cruiser, the Risians will give you a significant discount if you want to pick up another one on another toon! (Any character on your account will get this discount once you’ve unlocked it.) - which I believe is only going to be 40 pearls once unlocked.

Risians are also offering some Duty Officers for recruitment. To earn the loyalty of the Risians, you must learn their ways, so you’ll have to complete some of the activities on the island and see some of the sights before you can requisition them, and the best duty officers will require the most commitment. Risian duty officers include Helm Officers, Geologists, and Entertainers with all-new, unique active roster abilities like Risian Drift, Tectonics Expert, and Emergency Power to Party

Additionally the Summer event is a great way to earn more reputation or fleet marks, not sure if they will change the setup this year but you can breed Tropical Birds like eppohs and after the 3 days of breading you can get a Multi-Marks box.

Using Materials Wisely

With the upcoming changes to the crafting system, the current materials will no longer be usable, however keep hold of them and you will be able to convert them with the launch of the new system. Each material will reward a random R&D item, depending on the rarity of the original material, they reward as follows.

Common Crafting Material: Radiation Sample, Antimatter Sample, Tetryon Particle, Mineral Sample, Biological Sample, Plasma Sample, Alien Artifact, Unknown Alloy and Encoded Data.

Uncommon Crafting Material: Methogenic Particle, Tachyon Wave Signature, Chronometric Wave Signature, DNA Sequence, Exobiological Data, Unidentified Substance, Genetic Sequencer, Photonic Technology and Technical Schematic

Random Crafting Material (Common to Rare): Antithoron Particle Trace, Anyon Particle Trace, Beta-Tachyon Particle Trace, Chronometric Particle Trace, Dekyon Particle Trace, Duderon Particle Trace, Methogenic Particle Trace, Metreon Particle Trace, Trianium Particle Trace and Vertion Particle Trace

Another option is to craft yourself an Aegis set, if you don’t already have one, on the launch of 9.5 this will upgrade to the Mk XII Very Rare version with the improved stats and bonuses. Or try to get your hands on one through purchasing or asking someone of the appropriate crafting level to help out.

In short, save your materials, do the Science/Exploration duty officer missions to gain more of the current materials and build up a healthy stockpile ready for the 9.5 patch!

To add to that, if you plan on crafting in the upcoming system, getting 1500 in the current system will reward you the Genius accolade and a white Aegis doff necessary for crafting the Aegis set under the new system

Tip 12
Leveling Advise

Thought I would share a little tip with you for levelling your toons to 60 - some of you may know it others may not.

Since the withdrawal of the mirror event level new toons or existing ones isn't as easy as it used to be. So what to do is stack up a lot of doff missions, as well as complete you daily missions like defera dailies and the eta eridani dailies - as well as complete a couple of missions.

Now once that is complete head into a RED ALERT mission - any sector it doesn't matter. These zone give bonus XP for experience earned in the map - it also applies to missions handed in while in the zone. So hand in all your 20 doff missions, your 3 Defera missions, your 2 or 3 Eta missions and your story mission and BOOM extra XP for nothing

Doing that a couple of times should help you get to 60 in no time at all.
