"Catch you on the flip side of life." Normally it was used by DJs as a sign off for "see you later". Though, now it seems to be taken in a bad tone of things. Which kind of sucks, because I liked it. It isn't the normal thing you would here and I like being mischievous like this. Make you ponder what I mean.

"May the best of today, be the worst of your tomorrow." An Irish phrase normally said at weddings and worded slightly different. Though the first time I heard it was from my dad. I've kind of been trying to live up to the meaning. Not very well, but I think its a nice thing to strive for.

I've worn way too many different names over my life, that I just sometimes now accept new names like I would a new piece of clothing that I got for free.

Not an easy question!

At first I'd say "Qui desiderat pacem, bellum praeparat" (who desires peace, prepares for war) - Flavius Vegetius Renatus in "De re militari".
I like to be prepared for everything. Hope the best, expect the worst.
Certainly an idea that influences my personality and behavior a LOT.

But when I have my philosophical moments it must be "memento mori" (remember that you will die).
It's just something you can't bring to your mind often enough.
I even carry a pocketwatch with a skull on it with me all the time to remind of the little fact, that my existence as i know it will end one day.
Helps me to see my time on earth as a rare good, and encourages me to make the most out of it!

I recommend that everyone read at least part of Machiavelli's The Prince. Most of his musings tend to be, at best, morally gray. However, brilliant advice and guidance can be earned by those who read into it enough. Also, due to its age and fame it is extremely easy to access for free online. For those interested I'd recommend this version and chapters 16, 17, and 18 (17 addresses the famous 'Is it better to be loved than feared?' question)
