Nebula Class Build



Good Day Fellow UFP Captains,
As some of you may be aware I have a tendency to try various different and sometimes wacky builds! Some work, some don't!
Below is a Build for a Tac Captain in an Advanced Research Vessel Retrofit: Enjoy!

Fore:

Shields, Engine, Deflector: MACO MkXII. You can replace the shield with Elite Fleet if you have a leech.

Warp Core: Any Elite Fleet Hypercharged Warpcore that has [AMP],[W->A] and either [Eff] or [SEP]

Power levels: 85/85/15/15 (excluding bonuses)

Eng Battery
Subspace Field Modulator

Consoles:
4x Enhanced Particle Generators [-Th][+Pla]
Enhanced Neutronium [+turn], Assimilated, Zero Point Conduit, Nukara Uni
2x Plasma Infuser

Boffs:
Comm Sci: PH1, TSS2, TBR2, PSW3
Ens Sci: HE1
LtComm Eng: EPtE1, Aux2batt1, DEM2
Lt Eng: EPtW1, Aux2batt1
Lt Tac: TT1, BFAW2

Doffs:
3x Cooldown Technician
1x DEM Marion
1x Aftershock Photonic Studies Scientist

Additional Notes:

• You play it like a DEMarion BFAW cruiser, with the exception of orbiting targets at point blank range. This build was designed to demolish the huge stationary objects found in PVE as you are firing 6 beam arrays at full power on top of large hits of PSW3 and TBR2 ticking away all on system cooldown. And if you get a shockwave proc, that's a lot of AOE damage. Just the beams alone give you 8k dps, adding the kinetic hits you can push closer to 12k sustained. With tac buffs, I have seen a 50K PSW crit going off.
  
  
• The build works because PSW3 and TBR2 do their damage regardless of Aux power, and give you a source of large kinetic damage hits without relying on torps. You take less damage because you are constantly moving and have high shield power.
  
  
• If you find yourself going too fast from EPtE and achieving escape velocity while trying to orbit, you can swap EPtE for EPtS.
  
  
• This ship can vaguely cope in PVP because the BAs are effectively Accx3 thanks to the Nukara console. With high weapons and shields power you'd be clearing spam quite well, though a BFAW 8weapon cruiser will do better in that aspect.

This is pretty much what I was thinking of doing with Isha (my science officer). Build a ship that wasn't dependent on Aux. My hat is off to you in achieving it.

Since you've got both Aux2Bats and Doffs, you could actually lower the weapon values and bump up the Aux, providing you more healing overall. It'll give you a slight DPS hit, unless you are Engineering and their one Captain skill, but I always like staying a live more. You'll need to play with this a bit, but it is manageable.

You could actually add a bit more damage into the build by swapping out the either ensign science with tractor beam one, so that they ride the waves and are constantly getting hit by the repulsers. Its just a bit, but depending on what you do, it could pack a whallop.

Will look into the Power levels and see if I can fine tune those down a little more, as for the Ensign Sci Slots I kept them as Polarize Hull and Hazard Emitters solely to deal with the Borg Tractor Beams and Plasma Burns. May have to look into Setting up an Alternate Boff Roster for when i'm not in the STF's though. Overall....Food for thought, Cheers!

Thought Aux2Batt was getting the nerf bat in Season 9. I've been staying away from it due to that fact.

I have yet to see anything about Aux2Batt getting the Nerf Bat, but if you have some info please feel free to post it, I am sure there's more than a few of us that have invested heavily in to that particular set up :-)

Its not so much A2B, but BFAW that they are thinking of nerfing (or rather fixing) again. Simply because its still not working the way it should be. So you can still do an A2B build, just expect them to mess around with BFAW again.

I haven't seen anything related to A2B specifically, but I have seen dev posts about nerfing all of the energy AoE abilities (specifically FAW and CSV). The intended use was AoE w/ less DPS as a tradeoff, but the current mechanics allow you to effectively run FAW and CSV with more DPS than the focus fire abilities. I haven't seen anything on tribble posts yet, so I don't know if this has been implemented but be warned that they are waving a nerf bat in the general vicinity.

OK. Thought I saw a dev post stating Aux2Bat was going to be nerffed because it was getting to be too much of a cookie cutter build and people weren't experimenting with anything else.

I like this build a lot. Also always been fond of the Nebula class style. I follow the main forums and dev podcasts and have not seen anything about nerf of a2b. Not to say it is not out there but I would be interested as have a few builds which use it.

I don't yet have all the top end stuff and DOFF but I have already started to love it. I hope you don't mind me borrowing your build. Means I can move onto my Steamrunner .

Johac, you are more than welcome, personally I love the Nebula and decided that there had to be a build for it to make it competitive. Let me know if there is anything else I can do for you.

wouldnt it be a good idea to switch tss2 with science team 2 since it is not depending on aux power aswell?

That's a definite possibility, will look into that and see how it goes :-)
