We have picked up Ambassador Sokketh and are now heading for P’Jem. This Vulcan is like no other I have met, he is Impatient, agitated even emotional, and is in a hurry to get to P’Jem. Whilst on the surface I had the opportunity to witness the Kal Rekk Ritual and got talking to the High Priest Savin. He has already refused the Ambassadors request to Visit P’Jem, citing that P’Jem is a sacred site and that Sokketh has no logical reason to visit there. He begrudgingly agrees to the visit, but only once I agreed to protect the sanctity of the monastery

Sokketh has certainly made an impression, is it a good one?

Captain’s Log

Supplemental:

We arrived at P’Jem a few hours ago, and already we have had to contend with several Klingon Vessels demanding that Ambassador Sokketh be handed over to them. They believe that an Undine Agent has infiltrated the Challenger and that the Ambassador could be an Imposter. When we ‘politely’ refused their request they attacked. Thankfully we were able to defeat them, however, not before they were able to beam down landing parties to the Monastery.

Commanders Mer and Ixan’Tal along with their fellow away teams were able to secure the site, however shortly after they beamed down we received word from T’Pela, Sokkeths assistant, that the Ambassador’s Remains had been found on Vulcan.

The Klingons had been right all along, we had been transporting an Undine Agent!

The Away teams were able to overwhelm the Undine, however the imposter was able to beam back up to a Bioship waiting in orbit. We alerted Starfleet who immediately sent reinforcements, who were able to eventually destroy the dreadnought.

Lt. Commannder T’Vrell has recovered whatever Data she was able to and has begun transmitting it to Starfleet Intelligence for analysis.

One cannot help but wonder, if the Klingons were right about this……….what else do they know of?

Starfleet Intelligence were able to crack encrypted messaged sent from the Undine agent at P’Jem. They have found several references to the Paulson Nebula and have tasked the Challenger with investigating the nebula and finding out why the Undine have such an interest in it. The

Last ship in the area was the Enterprise, whose logs indicate that the clouds in the nebula have a nasty habit of obscuring opponents from sensors………….handy!

On arrival at the Lackey System, within the Paulson Nebula we were attacked by the Gorn. Another Starfleet vessel, the USS Valor was also in the area and was suffering from severe battle damage due to Gorn Assaults. Her engines were badly damaged, however Lt. Brott was able to recrystallize some Dilithium, enough to help her back on her way to Starbase 32 for repairs.

Commander Flores has picked up some peculiar signals emanating from deep within the Nebula. We are now en-route to investigate.

Commander Flores was not mistaken when she said there were signals coming from this particular location. Upon arrival we were able to track down and locate a Klingon Listening Post.

Commander Mer along with a Detachment of MACO’s beamed down to the Station with the instruction of obtaining any Data possible from the Computer Core. Although their mission was a success, they unfortunately took casualties, with Sergeant Burns, the MACO’s Commander Officer, currently in a critical condition. Dr Zareen assures me he that she will do everything within her power to ensure his swift recovery, of which I have no doubt.

The Data that was recovered from the listening outpost has been forwarded on to Starfleet HQ for analysis, let’s hope it yields another clue as to what the Undine's Plans ultimately are.

The intelligence that was recovered from the Paulson Nebula Listening post has proved invaluable. So much so that Starfleet HQ has been able to triangulate the approximate location of one of the Signal Repeater Relays that the KDF have been using to monitor Starfleet’s Communications. The Challenger has been ordered to locate the Repeater Relay, obtain any further Intel from the site and then destroy it.

We are now only 3 hours from the supplied co-ordinates, and have begun sensor sweeps to help narrow down the search area. Commander Flores believes that if we are able to locate one of the repeaters we may in fact be able to follow the trail back to another listening post, thus allowing us an increased possibility or recovering significant Intel

We were able, as Commander Flores had suggested, to track down a Klingon listening post in the Bomari System. Commander Ixan’Tal and Commander Mer beamed down and were able to not only place the supplied special charges, but after suffering an ambush, were also able to recover the entire Computers Data Core Intact. Commander Mer has suffered a plasma burn as a result of the ambush but will make a full recovery. One assumes that Starfleet intelligence will have a ‘field day’ going through all of the available data.

One final thing to note, the data that we have been able to decrypt so far has indicated a threat within the Bomari system, a threat that the Klingon's were paying special attention to. I have decided that it’s worth taking a look in that area and see if we can find out what that particular threat is.

Captain’s Log

We have sustained heavy damage and are making are way to the nearest Starbase at best possible speed. As soon as we arrived at the co-ordinates found within the Klingon data I realised what a terrible mistake I had made.

The Challenger was attacked immediately by 3 Undine Frigates! I ordered all non-essential crew to the Saucer Section of the Hull and began separation Procedures, as soon as the saucer was away to a safe distance we began our defence. We were able to destroy one Undine Ship and have immobilised the other two, but not without taking serious damage ourselves.

We have since re-joined the two sections of the hull and have begun emergency repairs. The Challenger currently has hull breaches from Decks B through F, Shields are currently offline as are primary Phaser Banks. Our compliment of Torpedo’s is all but spent and we have lost over 65 Crew. Doctor Zareen is literally snowed under in Sickbay and has requested any medically trained crew to assist her. Lt Brott is currently in a critical, but stable condition after being severely injured by an exploding console whilst preventing a warp core breach.

Even the Borg are said to be afraid of Species 8472, I now know why!!

Emergency Broadcast From U.S.S. Challenger NCC – 71099-D

This is Captain Koloth of the Federation Ship U.S.S Challenger! Mayday Mayday! To any and all vessels in range, we require immediate assistance! Our Journey back to Starbase 47 has been slow, made worse by critical system Failures. The Klingon s must have been tracking us, they know that we are no match for them in our current condition! As soon as we entered a nearby nebula we lost communications with Starfleet that was when they chose to attack!

Three B’Rel class Birds of prey have begun their assault and we have already sustained extensive damage to our existing crippled systems. Our Shields are Non-Functional and are weapons are offline! EPS Conduits have ruptured across nearly every deck, and both main power and auxiliary power are offline. Hull breaches can no longer be contained with emergency force-fields due to the lack of power and the Klingon's are now attempting to board and take the ship!

I have therefore given the order to abandon ship. There is a nearby M-Class Planet and I have ordered all escape pods to a small area on the north eastern continent. My senior staff have volunteered to help me pilot Challenger long enough to keep the Klingon s off of the Escape Pods.

I can’t begin to express how proud I am of my crew, they have literally performed miracles over the last couple of months, The Challenger is a fine ship, and I’m genuinely saddened by the fact that I didn’t get more time with her! I’m sure though, that she can help me buy enough time to get her crew to safety!

I have armed the Auto-Destruct for silent rigging, the Klingon s have begun boarding operations, if it’s the ship they want, it’s the ship they can have!

Today is a god day to Die!

I have just received word of the Situation regarding Captain Koloth and the crew of the U.S.S. Challenger and have dispatched the U.S.S Omega, escorted by the U.S.S. El Dorado and the U.S.S Bannockburn to the area to assist in the rescue effort. I know Captain Koloth and he will do whatever he can to protect his crew, that man has shown an amazing talent for surviving whatever seems to be thrown at him………..I just hope he has done so once again.

Personal Log – Commander Flores

Stardate: 86313.9

Having been picked up by the U.S.S. Omega I am now on my way back to Earth Space Dock. The Challenger has been destroyed and along with it any hopes the Klingons had of capturing a Federation Vessel. She was a great ship and has served us well. Fortunately our casualties were light, mostly down to Captain Koloth and his valiant efforts to protect the crew as they were escaping.

On arrival back at ESD I must speak to Admiral Quinn, for Captain Koloth did not go down with the Ship, no, as the remaining seconds on the Self Destruct were counting down he ordered the last of us to the remaining escape pod. As he left the bridge to join us the Klingons made it onto the Bridge!

He engaged them straight away, taking out 4 Klingon’s, and ordered us to use the last escape pod before it was too late. As I entered the pod I looked round just long enough to see him being overwhelmed. The Klingons captured the Captain and beamed him off the ship straight away.

When the Challenger exploded she took out 2 of the Klingon Ships, the 3rd had already warped out of the System, presumably with the Captain aboard.

My proposal to the Admiral will be that he grants permission for a Rescue mission and we go get the Captain back. Heaven knows that of all people who deserve our efforts it’s the Captain, he’s done so much for this crew, I just hope we get the chance to pay him back!

The crew of the Challenger have arrived back in the Sol System. Many have been transferred to Starfleet Medical to have their treatment continued, whilst others have made trips to see family and friends. However, I have just had the entire Command team of the Challenger in my office, asking for me to grant permission for a rescue operation to be conducted with the aim of recovering Captain Koloth.

I can say one thing for Koloth, his crew are as loyal to him as any I have ever seen. I suppose they have good reason to be, after all, he has proven time and time again that when the situation is dire and when there looks to be no hope of victory, that by working together they can do the impossible. Some would say that this is nothing more than hero worship, they would be wrong. It takes a true commander to be able to lay down his or her life for the good of their crew, something which Koloth seems all too familiar with.

I have thereby granted Commander Flores’ request. The Command team of the U.S.S Challenger, excluding Brott, who is still in a critical condition, will be joining Captain Solace of the U.S.S Omega and Captain Soral of the U.S.S El Dorado. Scans have indicated that the Bird of Prey that captured Captain Koloth was on a heading for Rura Penthe. Both Captains have volunteered for this mission and are fully aware of what’s at stake!

Personal Log – Commander Flores

Admiral Quinn has granted permission for us to launch our rescue plan for Captain Koloth, with Captains Solace and Soral volunteering to assist. The entire command team is itching to get back out there and retrieve the captain and I’m just glad the Admiral has given us the opportunity to try.

Having just got back from a meeting with Solace and Soral I can definitely say that their idea for a plan is as bold as it is risky. We will be departing at 2200 hrs.

The U.S.S Omega and the U.S.S El Dorado will head to the Beta Penthe system at maximum warp. The El Dorado will be cloaked as to only appear as One Ship on Klingon Sensors. Aboard the El Dorado will be critical personnel only along with a detachment of Elite MACO Units. As soon as we enter the System the MACO’s along with myself and several of my fellow officers from the challenger will beam down to the surface of Rura Penthe and begin our search for the captain. The Omega is to act as a decoy and to pull any KDF Ships away from the planet, she’s faster than anything the Klingon's have and is to depart as soon as the Klingon's engage, drawing them further away, however Captain Solace has already shown what he can do when it comes to taking them on, and I’m sure he will make them hurt a little before he makes his departure. The Omega is to remain cloaked and await our signal for beam out.

Like I said, it’s risky but it’s bold and I think it may actually work.

Personal Log – Commander Flores

Stardate: 86332.0

It’s strange, as I walk the corridors of the El Dorado I see a sense of calm. Both the Omega and the El Dorado are now well inside Klingon space and could be attacked at any moment, but the atmosphere is one of calm and of determination.

This is the first time I have been on a Defiant Class Ship and I must say she is a different kind of lady to anything I have stepped foot on before. Starfleet ships have nearly always been ones of Science or Exploration, not the El Dorado though! She’s been created for one purpose alone, to defend against or destroy anything that threatens the Federations Security. Armed to the teeth with a superb defense, I almost feel sorry for any Klingon ship she comes across……..almost.

Captain Soral has informed me that we are 6 Hours from Rura Penthe, so far we have yet to come across any Klingon Ships, although I’m sure that will change. The Omega has been working on a way to track down Captain Koloth, not easy considering he’s a Klingon imprisoned with many thousands of other Klingon’s, however Captain Solace believes that they will be able to determine Koloth’s position to within a few hundred meters. I hope he is right, this is a risky enough plan already, without the need to have to search an entire prison facility full of Klingon Warriors.

(Red Alert Klaxons in the Background with intermittent weapons fire)

The Omega and El Dorado have just arrived on station and the plan has already gone to hell, there are too many ships in orbit around Rura Penthe for it to work!

Captain’s Solace and Soral have instead opted to tackle the threat head on and have begun an assault on the ships in orbit. The Klingons appear to be surprised and have yet to form a cohesive unit. Captain Soral has asked the teams to assemble in the transporter rooms, we are going to make a close pass of the planet and start the rescue part of the mission.

This is going to be quick and it’s going to be messy, the Omega and the El Dorado won’t be able to keep the Klingon ships busy for too much longer before re-enforcements arrive, time to get in, get the Captain and Get Out!
