Had a little binge and ended up with these, I'm done now. Kept to stuff that had steep discounts to avoid going overboard - DOOM Eternal was tempting but I resisted.

Space Quest Collection (nostalgia city...)

Though Sierra Online are long gone, they were pretty much the only other name in the business for adventure games after Lucasarts back in the day. Space Quest 6 turned out to be the final entry in the series (there was a 7th entry planned, but it got cancelled) and the narrator voiceover they did for it was brilliant. I think my favourite quote from the game is the simple, yet funny, "That's an interesting idea. Not a good one, but interesting nonetheless."

Played them all... I think 6 was my least favorite though. The last major quest just felt too ... juvenile.

Of course I also played all the police quests, hero's quests and king's quests. Even the leisure suit larry games (apart from the much more recent entry... that was just... just no...).

I got MCC in the autumn sale - but I changed my mind and refunded it, it was £23.79 if I remember rightly, so even more savings to be had though I'm probably going to avoid this sale.

I got started with the founding fathers of the adventure genre (and made first contact with PC because of it) with:

"Leisure Suit Larry in the land of the Launge lizzards" on an 8086 with the green glowing text monitor and that (stainless steel?)
keyboard from IBM. Never forget those days. I didn't even speak my own language sufficiently to have a conversation but
I was able to get Larry inside the moving rectangle with that strange woman somehow!!! (ah nostalgia, pumping through my artories right now)

I played almost exclusively Sierra Online until i made the connection in my brain between George Lucas and LucasArts. Then the dissapointment
that most of the LucasArts games were not about Star Wars (i was 6, 7, 8 maybe) kept me from even trying any.

So Monkey secrets and all came much later when they turned into the "retro" category.

It is so very nice to see that there are folks here in the UFP that have the same nostalgic shivers down their spine when they think about "look around" and "open door"
as a means of controlling the character in a game.

Kids these days have it soooo easy with their pads, sticks, triggers and abxy gadgets!!

Enjoy playing throught those space quests again!!

Just grabbed Battlefront II and despite all the negatives around EA’s crap with the monetising it, the game is wonderful fun.
It looks outstanding (I wish we got a Star Trek game that looked and ram this good) and even just fighting the AI is atmospheric and feels true to what it’s portraying.

Currently having fun incinerating those filthy resistance scum as a flame trooper!
