Yes I made that pun

A thread to share all the artwork I make, and am going to make when I start 3D Modelling at college after the summer.

My first complete 3D model using the free 3D modelling software Blender.

and this is it 6 hours earlier

not bad for someone who just got the hang of the basics

Reworked the engine pods and the nose, also smoothed out the model.

Even managed to get the material on the engines to glow.

i am very impressed, As a student you can get 3d studio max 2015 for free with a 3 year subscription

Looking pretty good Dodgers. Are you modelling it after a specific ship, or is it an original design?

It looks like you're using the Edge Split modifier. You'll get better results if you also check "Sharp Edges" on the modifier. Then you can select edges and mark them as sharp (Ctrl+E). Comparing the images in the first and last post, this would help the grey ring on the center of the fuselage and the top of the main thruster.

Guess you have never seen the British children's program "Thunderbirds", it was made back in the 60s, but I enjoyed it growing up in the 90s. This model is a recreation of Thunderbird 3, International Rescue's SSTO for missions outside of Earth's atmosphere.

Also thanks for the tip, will need to try it out

Haven't posted in here for quite sometime now, but as I mentioned in my OP, I am going to College now studying HND 3D Animation (1st year of 2).
After starting in August and learning the basics of 3Ds MAX (with a 3 year student licence), we have had our first project as part of our first learning block, and I think mine turned out quite well.

9 hours to render it, certainly gave me a good idea of what to expect for future renders.
Glad I rendered it 2 days before the hand in date, some in my class were rendering it on Friday morning (it was due by 4pm on Friday), one guy was using 5 PC so he could render in time.

Anyway I start my 2nd block next week and Character Modeling & Animation, should be fun

I was originally going to make it a wanted poster of myself, but after using a placeholder image of a Transformer, one of the guys in class said to keep it as it was funny. So the final poster looks like this.

The 808 is a reference to my class room, a tradition among 3D animators.

I started to model something yesterday, that I have been thinking about for some time now, and I think it will make a nice tribute to my most favorite game from my childhood.
