    Saw that yesterday, its still a long way off. But it looks cool, and it uses an Alcubierre drive. Plus they are calling it the Enterprise *fanboy squeal*

    I know everyone in this fleet will probably say the same exact thing, but I really hope this is completed in our lifetime.

    No. Nasa is actually has been working on FTL Drive Systems for a while. This particular design is made by Mark Rademaker. Same guy who designed the Vesta Class Starship for Star Trek: Typhon Pact series.

    Nasa seems to be working with Mr.Rademaker for possible designs for the future.

    Well sadly the warp drive (and powering it) is only one system that is still on the fringes of science. They would also need to come up with a working life support system and a way to protect the ship against various forms of radiation and matter in space - I think these things pose at least an equal challenge to that of the warp drive.

    Overall, I don't think that a spaceship that could support life and move at FTL speeds is something that would be very far away, but the main thing keeping this on the fringe right now is a lack of funding. NASA has a workable plan to build a base on the Moon which they could have there by 2020, but they just lack the money.

    I think this needs to be moved out of the jokes section into the main rens bar area.

    And I love that they are calling it Enterprise!

    There is no way this is going to get built in the next 100 years though :/

    I have actually given some thought to this but My idea is more along the lines of a singularity generator...which is Romulan technology LOL
