One area of the game that I'm lost about is really DOFF assignment chains. I know if you go to certain areas, you get missions and ultimately one that gives a chance for a purple or something like that. Is that every exploration cluster? Not sure if I'm misinformed, but I read somewhere on the official STO forums that they were doing away with the clusters (at least in present form) as part of the revamp of crafting.
I'd like to make sure I get everything before they do. If these clusters do offer chance at purples through mission chains, which clusters are best for each profession (eng, tac, sci)?

Each of the exploration clusters have a chain, but I thought the revamp would keep the clusters (just not its own zone we have to warp into) and let us access cluster-specific assignments there?

The exploration areas are being removed, but there is supposed to be an indicator so you can still collect the doff missions and stuff.

When 9.5 comes out, you can still fly to the locations the exploration zones were and you'll be prompted to access doff assignments for those locations (much like how the doff consoles and such inside ships work), so you should still be able to do any of the chains there; you just won't be able to warp there anymore for missions.
Personally, for me this is a bonus since I hat zoning for a few doffs.

Personally, for me this is a bonus since I hat zoning for a few doffs.
Agreed, especially since STO won't load a new zone if I'm alt-tabbed out. It just sits at a Press Any Key screen, and then in many areas I have to wait for the warp-in animation.

Does anyone know if the assignment chains (in the coming patch) can only be accessed in sector space. I use my freighter to warp to the area and then give bridge invites to those that need them, if it cannot be accessed from the ships bridge my freighters use would be severely diminished.

is there any rhyme or reason to when these exploration chain ones appear? I have a few where I've gotten through the 1st four, haven't seen the 5th one be available, and it's been a couple of days.
Stuff like this makes me paranoid something is bugged or something...
