Greetings One And All!

Now that I have all my bits and pieces, and look really important as evident by the big important person signature just below this here message. I would like to tell you all it’s a farse, to be honest I’m just like you, in fact I probably have even more annoying habits then most of you and cause the most problems for others.

What is the point in admitting all this, why do I drag a council nomination through the mud?

Its not my intention to slander or degrade mine or anyone else's nominations or the council itself its just that after talking with some of you, some still don’t quite know what the council is or what it does. To be frank (honest) I’m still learning myself, but the key factor is that the Council is made up of people like you, not a group of favorite friends with special treatment as some believe. We don’t all weild ban hammers and talk in high class political jargon and are certainly not infallible. We’re just gamers, we play the same games you do(give or take) and we enjoy playing with our friends. The UFP is a group of (mostly) like minded people with some exceptions but still mostly like minded. We on the Council will continue to play the games we love and come up with new ideas on how to support the UFPlanets.com (LTD) and the games, its members and then discuss them. If the majority of councilman feels an idea is in the best interest of his or her constituents then it will be put to a vote where your (UFP Member's) influence matters the most and if all goes well, that new idea will take form and the community will benefit from it as a whole.

I don’t want to demean the Council in any way, it is actually a big honor to be a part of something so innovative and fair, to be able to have my ideas listened to, actually listened to and discussed. And that’s an honour I want you all to feel as well. Yes I want you to be on the Council!

I want you to feel like you’re on the council now as we represent /you/ and then I want each and every one of you to join the Council in future nominations!

To the members of the Planet Risa I represent, you. I apologize if that embarrasses you but I promise I’ll do my best to use my skills to better serve your interests within the UFP with as little shame bringing as possible. If you have an idea, any idea that might benefit the UFP. I want to hear it, I honestly do, don’t be scared about me dismissing you or feel timid about wasting my time, I’m representing you so I need to hear from you in order to know what it is that /you/ want.

To the other UFP members whom belong to different worlds, go bug your own respective Councilors, don’t waste my time!

Naw… I’m just playing, if you want to contact me, feel free and I’ll pass anything relevant to your representative, but you will need to meet them at some point and don’t worry because they want to hear from you too. We all took this job - to do this job, not coast by with pretty titles and fancy robes passing judgement blindly, so I ask that you please utilize us and don’t be concerned about how we take your suggestions and comments, that’s what we’re here for. So by leaving Feedback, any Feedback, you help the Council and make the UFP stronger.

So hopefully now that you know what a Representative is or does perhaps you want to know how to be one yourself and run in future elections? I'll let Bond tell you as I steal an excerpt from an old thread.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO STAND FOR THE COUNCIL?

There are a few simple requirements for members that wish to stand for the Council. In order to be eligible members wishing to stand:



· Must have either 12 months membership at CL3 level or 6 months membership at CL4 or higher level.
· May not hold any other CL5 or CL6 level positions.
· Must not have any active strikes on their fleet record.


CAN COUNCILLORS HOLD OTHER POSITIONS WITHIN UFP?

A Federation Councillor position is a CL5 level position. Those serving on the Federation Council can not hold any other CL5 or CL6 level positions. Following feedback from the community it has been decided that Councillors can hold a CL4 positions in addition to being on the Council.

I'M INTERESTED IN FINDING OUT MORE ABOUT SERVING AS A FEDERATION COUNCILLOR, WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Firstly I would probably recommend taking a look at the threads HERE and HERE which explain a little more about what the Council is and how it works. Secondly I would recommend speaking to any of the currently serving Federation Councillors.

Please bear in mind though that this will be the first elected Federation Council and the make up of that Council will have a big part to play in shaping the experience of Councillors.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I WANT TO STAND FOR THE COUNCIL?

Just send me a PM titled 'Federation Council Nomination' by the 1st of July 2014 and include your first and second choices of which Planet you would want to represent.

If you know someone that you think would make a good Councillor then please be sure to talk to them.

Your predecessor did. What a fine specimen he was, standing there with his many and important catchphrases which are greatly underappreciated by the community.


On a serious note - well done I think you're doing an excellent job. Posts like this rise the profile of the council, and highlight that it is an important part of the community. Keep it up.
