lol that was good. Though how I always justify it is that sure, in ep 1 they said they cant replenish torpedoes, but im sure a crew of about 150 people are resourceful. They could have found someway to acquire/make more.

I always wondered why they didn't just write it down on a white board somewhere in the office to keep track of it, and then come up with some other 'space magic' to fix their problems. Oh well.

I tried to justify it myself, I thought maybe they replicated more or perhaps just had the equipment on board to make more but its what he said at the beginning that made me cringe, no way to replace them and then janeway kept saying we can't spare any. Then they just dropped caring about it altogether and started whipping their torpedos out for everything. I too would have accepted a magic answer not, "Oops, we miscounted. Oh blast miscounted again, etc." that's all I can do for it, chekotay and the computer kept miscounting.

I was always surprised they were supposed to have gone out with so few. They were hunting maquis but have less payload than the 1701-A had on a diplomatic mission, and the Constitution is a smaller vessel.

Aside from that I am sure they DID find a way to replenish them. They managed to build two delta fliers and always had more shuttles, so maybe they acquired an industrial replicator at some point.

Since they claimed their supply was finite, the only logical explanation is that they manufactured more or acquired them along the way.

In either case, it's pretty classic when canon doesn't stick to canon.

... I think they did answer the shuttle thing at one point, I seem to recall them building new ones, besides the Delta Flyer. I could have bad memory on that one though.

I first saw this back in January. Following up, I read some more detailed discussion which points out that, at the start of "Year of Hell" in Season 4, Episode 8, they report having eleven torpedoes remaining -- reasonably close to a fan's careful accounting that they had thirteen reminaing at that point. That suggests that, at least through season 4, the writers were actually keeping track of the number of torpedoes. After that, things get out of sync rapidly.
